Poll question: Who did you support in the 2000 Dem primaries: GORE or BRADLEY?
Edited on Sun Aug-03-03 01:17 AM by SyracuseDemocrat
I gotta be honest about this, I supported Bill Bradley in the Dem primaries until it was clear that Al Gore had won the delegates. I thought Bill Bradley had been a great senator and I had really wanted him to be president, but after it was clear that he had lost, I shifted my support to Gore. Who did you support in the Dem primaries? Please reply below :P , and tell me why you supported who you did.

1. I voted for Bradley
Although I thought he went negative too early (in the primaries that means at all). Still I thought he was an excelent Senator and would have made an excelent President. But I liked both of them.

4. How sad
I was supporting Gore this time, so I definately see what the people who voted for him saw. Whenever I did calling for Bradley and I got an undecided I'd say "We have two great candidates and they've got a half dozen awful ones." Then I tried to sell them on Bradley anyway.

We won my state(and my country). I worked for Gore's campaign after he won and infact I'm wearing a Gore/Lieberman shirt right now.

9. Thats great
Well I did a little bit of campaign myself in a middle school, I am one of the more younger DUers, did some work for Al in school, my grandmother and late aunt went to Portland so she could get some treatment, my aunt because she had Leukemia, they went to a rally or two and got me a Gore-Lieberman sign, I can see it now. That sign and this book she gave to me are what I remember her by.

6. Actively?
Did you campaign for him or just tell your friends how cool he was? I can remember holding signs for candidates when I was 11 but most 11 year olds don't want to hold signs in Washington's September and November weather, in other words they aren't crazy.

10. I voted 4 Bradley
in the primary. I thought his 'message' was more coherent. He had an impressive senatorial voting record.

12. Bradley, of course
I voted for Bradley in the Wisconsin primaries, even though our primaries weren't until April 4, 2000 - - by which point, the major party establishments had already anointed their respective Golden Boys. So my vote was essentially only a protest vote.

But at least I bothered to vote.

And I didn't cast my vote for Gore in the General Election, either!

14. I always figured the Bradley movement was opposition to the Democrats.

I always figured the Bradley movement was just opposition to the
Democrats; it wouldn't surprise me to find out that it was funded
by Republicans, especially when I think of who many of the big
"Bradley" supporters were here in NH.

Thanks for helping to confirm my suspicions.

13. I voted for Gore in the primary...
I liked his history of emphasizing environmental issues, and I was just generally more confident that he'd make a good President (though I strongly suspect Bradley would have done a good job as well). And something about Bradley just didn't appeal to me, though I certainly would have voted for him in the general election.

15. I was in love with Bradley. Thought he would change the world.
Then he flamed out, and I halfheartedly supported Gore. By election day, I was in love with Gore, who grew and became a better candidate, perhaps a better person.

I hope Gore will re-enter the race.

16. Supported Gore. Bradley championed Raygun tax cuts
Not just supported them, went to the house to twist Dems arms. And succeeded. My question: how many of his supporters know this fact? (I notice they support Kerry now)

19. what's your point?
And Gore voted to confirm Scalia, and twisted Clinton's arm on deciding many rightward policies.

17. Of course, by the time it got around to where I live,
Gore had already won, but I really didn't want Gore to be the one.
