Will Howard Stern be.......
on the air tomorrow?? The fines were supposedly handed down after his broadcast on Friday but I have not heard what they were. I am not a supporter but I did listen on Friday and he sounded pretty much pessimistic about his future.

When will this shit end?? Whether you like him or not,IT IS NOT ABOUT HIM !! He disses Bush and he's canned much like the Air Traffic Controllers who challenged Reagan. That was the beginning of the corporate take-over of America along with Reagan's trashing of the Fairness Doctrine in broadcasting.

He (Reagan) was also responsible for undermining the impact of Unions in this country and it has been a struggle ever since.
Until these issues are addressed by our Dem leaders, and reversed, I remain convinced that corporate America will continue to call ALL the shots.

Major Oil and Energy, and Pharmaceutical and Insurance corporations will continue to steer the direction of this country until we, the people, say ENOUGH! We never stood up to Reagan and we lost a lot, now the time has come to take a stand.

Perhaps it's going to take an "in the streets" effort to bring about the changes we desire...if so...count me in!!

1. Infinity Broadcasting has made no mention that I have heard
that they intend to fire him. Of course, Clear Channel has no say in Howard's future. I think (and hope) that Howard is making all this noise for the publicity.

2. Reagan's a traitor to the working class... the first of many in power.
:-(

You are 100% correct.

And while I don't always like Stern's content, the fact he openly disagrees with a political leader and gets canned for it is a sheer violation of the First Amendment, amongst other things. Corporate fascism comes to mind too.

3. He makes too much money for Infinity...
They will not terminate him unless the FCC (Republican tools) threatens to revoke their licences. That's highly unlikely.

The only reason that Clear Channel (Republican tools) removed him was because they see the bigger picture--re-install Bush and get a huge payoff in the form of unfettered accumulation of stations in markets where they have the maximum allowed.

4. he's a fatalist
Infinity Broadcasting stood up for him for more than a decade. They even paid a substantial fine/settlement with the FCC.

However, Infinity is now owned by the corporate giant CBS. The corporate media conglomerate will not risk any potential bad publicity, fines, or loss of liscences on account of Stern. They have their gigantic media empire to protect.

It's a different game now(and Stern knows it). In an era of corporate media consolidation, a few executives(with the prompting from coservative moralists) could easily bury a giant like Stern.

Besides, Stern has for the last couple of years been saying that he planned to retire from radio(the increasing restrictions placed on his show made him question his future with Infinity). The Clear Channel fiasco and the upcoming FCC fines is the final nail in the coffin.

He's basically throwing in the towel.

6. I agree...but I wonder if..
this message from the FCC is directed more to the, soon to be launched, Liberal Air America with Franken, Rhodes, Garafalo as hosts. Perhaps the FCC is telling them that if they diss Bush, et al, there could be serious ramifications as in look what we did to Stern.
IE America Radio is gone and with it Mike Malloy. Who's next ??
