I live in Santa Fe N.M. and there is a business alliance amongst the locally owned business'. This is their website listing all the member business' http://www.santafealliance.com/Members.php . So, for example if you wanted to spend a night at a locally owned hotel you could check the alliance.

This business alliance is not unique. All across America their is a budding of alliances by locally owned business'. You can find out about community based business alliances at the American Independent Business Alliances website here: http://www.amiba.net / . There is a movement in America to "extinguish the corporate `I`" from Nebraska ( www.i300.org ) to Humbolt ( www.duhc.org ) to the Robyn Van En Center based in Chambersburg PA creating renewed community based farming ( http://www.csacenter.org / ).
