I've watched the campaign ads this morning and something bothers me. Has anyone noticed that the tone of the ads is "I will lead America... I have a plan... I know where I want to take the country... i know what we need to do..."
Is this not the mark of a massive ego running amok? President Bush is supposed to serve the American people and ensure the country goes in the direction they choose. As for using the WTC and 9-11 in his ads, can anyone honestly say they didn't expect him to exploit those images and the emotion generated by them to further his agenda? Perhaps the saddest byproduct of the ad is that a large percentage of Americans still believe that Saddam Hussein had a hand in those events and accept the war we've begun based on this false information.
As for the callers complaining that Democrats don't support the troops, I'd like to remind them that it is not the Democrats who contracted Kellog Brown and Root to feed our soldiers in the field with questionable food in dirty kitchens at a ridiculous expense. Nor are the Democrats the ones who leave American soldiers in harms way in Baghdad. Democrats didn't cancel veterans benefits. Democrats haven't mangled the domestic economy to which our soldiers will return. Democrats haven't eradicated our reputation in the greater world.
I am looking forward a sound Bush defeat in November of 04.
I heard them on the radio, they described the images.
GAWD....it sounds like they definitely exploited 9/11...trade center rubble...firemen...then they had Laura at a diner (?) with factory workers in hard hats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's all I could take I had to turn it off.
I feel a little positive about this. Can you say Backfire?
EDIT: Mopaul! I have missed that ventriloquist image! So glad you're back!
