This is how Duhbya's former HBS professor remembers him!
At Harvard Business School, thirty years ago, George Bush was a student of mine. I still vividly remember him. In my class, he declared that "people are poor because they are lazy." He was opposed to labor unions, social security, environmental protection, Medicare, and public schools. To him, the antitrust watch dog, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Securities Exchange Commission were unnecessary hindrances to "free market competition." To him, Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal was "socialism." Recently, President Bush's Federal Appeals Court Nominee, California's Supreme Court Justice Janice Brown, repeated the same broadside at her Senate hearing. She knew that her pronouncement would please President Bush and Karl Rove and their Senators. President Bush and his brain, Karl Rove, are leading a radical revolution of destroying all the democratic political, social, judiciary, and economic institutions that both Democrats and moderate Republicans had built together since Roosevelt's New Deal.

2. A little hard to believe
that Smirk was coherent enough to have opinions like these. IOW, if youi asked him to explain what "socialism" is, he would sweat, stutter, call you an asshole, and then talk about how rough Viet Nam was for him.

9. Few, if any, of the people
who call the New Deal "socialism" can explain what socialism is--or even what the New Deal was.

7. "people are poor because they are lazy"
rich, coming from someone who is clearly a very lazy person himself. How
much time does he spend on his ranch "clearing brush"? (there must not
be a single brush left in the entire state of TX).

Hope this article gets around....

15. Not quite
Most libertarians would agree with the positions but would not so openly voice the hatred and snobbery towards working people that Shrub does.

Some libertarians actually do believe in eliminating government welfare programs as a movement towards freedom for all. I don't agree, but to the extent they are sincere, well the motivation ain't so bad.

A good libertarian will also think these things through and try to articulate some logical reasoning behind their beliefs.

Basically, the end result may be the same, but Shrub is a much bigger jerk than most libertarians I have run into.

12. cliched Old Right slogans
....basic anti-FDR slogans from the Old Right(which included both conservative and paleo-libertarian segments).

I wonder if Bush also preached the anti-war/isolationist slogans of the Old Right. This would definitely be ironic.

arrogant, condescending without compassion or any experience with the vicissitudes of life that brings a sense of humility to adults as they mature.
