Who is SICK of this REPUKE tactic !!??
Edited on Wed Mar-03-04 06:36 PM by bucknaked
This election sounds like a Pay-Per-View boxing match! Oh, nevermind the polls that show that this MORE-THAN-EVER-exposed first-term-Pres/incumbent is losing in the Polls, against a "relatively" unknown Senator...

HE IS LOSING...

Oh, but once the campaign starts... Bush will come back... This damn campaign started back in '00 with Bush running the show!!!

(editing for excessive caps... old habit :) ).

4. Running on the Iraq war and "security" worked for the
pugs in 2002...the Dems had a ready made issue in the tanking economy but they did not take advantage of it then. Let us all hope (especially working people) that the party has learned its lesson and will fight for the White House.

11. I've been seeing the talking heads and pundits---
talking up the economy. I am not so sure the economy is going to be a huge thorn in Bush's side, to be quite honest. Some basic numbers aren't looking all that bad.

Unemployment at 5.6% (an average number)
NASDAQ up by 50%
Housing market still very strong

blah blah blah.

I think there is certainly room for various interpretations of the numbers, but overall, the economy is not "tanking" and may not be a source of great umbrage to Bush.

I don't want to sound like a pessimist, but I frankly don't see where he is critically weak. I will be suprised if Kerry pulls of a victory.

But anything can happen between now and November.

3. I'm sorry, what tactic are you referring to?
Is it the one where they say..."It will be a VERY CLOSE race" and the Democrats ae energized, so it will be tight? That one? Yeah, they seemed to forget that 2000 was a tight race, and the Democrats weren't nearly as energized as this time around.

But at least it's not still the "Bush will win in a landslide, because he's an "extermely" popular President" anymore.:eyes:

'Likable" is an important part of the "electability" of a President

....... gave the advantage to Kerry on several personal traits, including being in touch with the problems of ordinary people, sharing people's values and having a likable personality.

Kerry's pollster, Mark Mellman, points to that last finding as especially significant. He said Republicans have long considered Bush's personal likability as a kind of "firewall" against a Democratic challenger.

Pollsters caution that surveys taken at this time might be overestimating Kerry's strength because of the surge of favorable media attention he has enjoyed since his victories in Iowa and New Hampshire. http://www.newsday.com/news/nationworld/nation/ny-uskerr083662914feb09,0,4916477.story?coll=ny-nationalnews-headlines

Two-thirds of Americans said they find Bush likable — including just under three-fifths of Democrats. http://www.latimes.com/news/custom/timespoll/la-na-poll20nov20x,1,2940283.story?coll=la-news-times_poll

``A majority of Americans disagreed with Ronald Reagan's policies in 1984, but he won because they liked him personally,'' said Luntz, who has advised Republican candidates. ``People look at presidential candidates in a special way because they can't get away from the president. They can ignore a senator or governor, but a president will be in their living rooms for four years. At a minimum they have to like him.'' http://www.ohio.com/mld/ohio/news/editorial/8026180.htm

Americans like Bush's qualities, poll says http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/01/13/elec04.poll.bush.issues/
Yet Democrats said to have edge on many domestic issues

7. Likability is a two way street
I doubt youll find many Dems who like Bush and visa versa. I suppose it would be good for the indys but I dont get this likability that media has put on him. The guy and the smirk and the what me worry attitude. Who could like that?

8. WTF are you talking about?
What is the tactic that has you so up in arms - ?

Kerry seems to have the momentum - Bush all the baggage...

Everybody knows it...

Are you saying Bush is trying to play the "Underdog" role?

10. Apologize for the rant, but here's what I AM TALKING ABOUT...
Edited on Wed Mar-03-04 08:05 PM by bucknaked
...this false-sense of over-confidence... "hahahaha... Kerry and his ilk will implode/never sell to the public/he'll be voting against himself/etc."

That is what I am talking about... however,

Just like you've stated...

Kerry has the momentum, yet Bush had 9/11, the Carrier OPS landing to announce the "end of major OPS" in Iraq, the capture of Saddam, the SOTU speech, and is still losing to a "relatively (my words), unknown...

12. Yeah - not sure if it's a tactic or...
...just a bunch of idiot blow-hards...

Look at FreeRepublic - they will never beat Kerry cuz they are totally preoccupied with fantasies.

They think that they are going to find some "silver bullet" that knocks Kerry out with the public...

Everyday there is some new "discovery" about Kerry that they think people will give a damn about...In fact, they generally are helping our side by highlighting and detailing Kerry's record.

Military Record:
Most people who look into this are "suprised" to learn Kerry was in VietNam and thrice decorated. Not a winner for Bush...

Anti-War Record:
I think they'll find this helps Kerry's popularity...He wouldn't rush into a war the way Bushco did.

Vice President:
They are falling for planted stories about Bill Clinton being selected for VP!!! - more fantasy - Kerry can win this one on his own.

Jane Fonda:
Who is she?

Bimbos:
Not the same as Clinton - Monica was a fool and easily played. No legal case to go with the scandal this time - so even a legit Bimbo would never make it past the "Rumour" stage...and thanks to MATT DRUDGE - no one will ever believe one of these stories again.

Hillary:
There is a Freeper fantasy about after the Dem convention - the candidate drops out - and is replaced by Hillary...just let them believe it!

Economy:
Gas up 4 cents today...I needn't say more.

These guys can't even figure out who they are running against!...they will be so easy to beat...all we have to is sit back and let these lunatics speak...they make the right look wacky!

LANDSLIDE KERRY

13. The tactic is to play up the apparent invincibility of shrub, either
from his huge war chest (mine is bigger than yours) or his extreme popularity (LOL). Since the apparent popularity myth has been shattered recently, they are pimping the war chest.

40 mil did not win Dean a primary until he was already out of the race. The money is significant but not everything. I fear the paid workers increasing voter reg and turnout from this money more than the ads, as the ads should not work on people who are fundamentally disillusioned by the dishonesty of shrub particularly with respect to Iraq/WMD.
