Had A Yankee-Doodle Dandy Democracy Sorta Day !!! (Really, A Serious Post)
Edited on Wed Mar-03-04 12:46 AM by WillyT
Not a big deal, and ain't no braggin here... (And NOT Belittling here)

But I woke up extra-early this morn to jam to my 74 year old Mom's house, so I could help load her trunk with collapsible voting booths (not a joke), Ballot Box, and extraneous voting materials (She's this precinct's local voter dudette). Followed her to the polling place. Helped unload, set up a few booths, and then jammed downtown for my second week of duty as a jury member in a local murder case (can say no more than that about that).

Then (when released)... jammed back to my abode to change into comfortable clothing so I could go to the polls and vote. Which I did. (Early and often, er... not, LOL)

Point is, Democracy out there still thrives. It thrives all over the place. It thrives where you live as well. With all this hypocritical right-wing blather about the virtues of Democracy, some people, in little and big ways, make it happen.

So I, along with you, will walk the walk, when it comes to Democracy. And Diebold be damned, I will defend Democracy to the utter consternation and frustration to those that would have it any other way!!!

Go MommaT!!!

Go all of us!!!

1. Great job Willy T
I wonder if people realize how many fun ways there are to help the Democratic Party.

Saturday morning I marched in a Washington's Birthday parade. There were about 60 of us in our Democrat contingency. We had trucks, cars, 2 motorcycles, costumed marchers, even a candidate for US Representative.

The week before we had a sign-making party and made 40 signs about Medicare, Social Security, Iraq, etc. to carry - plus banners and flags.

My local Dem group is up to 40 members, and there are several new groups in my county.

I encourage everyone to seek out their local groups, and if there aren't any - then start one!

Just wanted to know if anybody else believes, despite all of the muck we've been dragged through.

4. And there's more!
On our Primary Election day (March 9) I will be working as a poll-worker. I have to be there at 6AM and can't leave until 7PM. We do get paid, but not alot!

I used to work at polls in Miami and really enjoyed it. Once again - there are many fun ways to get involved and help Kerry get elected!
