i voted for 57, albeit grudgingly. the state needs money, that much is certain. if we had a dem governor, we'd raise revenue from those who could afford it. but with idiotboy in the mansion, state services would be guaranteed to suffer.

7. I voted just the opposite

I'm probably most upset about 56 going down. Ever since we passed that two-thrids requirement several years ago, the legislature has not just been late passing a budget but ridiculously late.

The only problem I had with propsition 56 is that it lowered the required number from two-thirds to 55%; it should be a simple majority.

The failure of 56 leaves budgetary control in the hands of a bunch of repug pricks isolated from any of the havoc that they cause.

When I was voting I heard the monitors talking about how California is now a white minority state in a disapproving way (I look like just another old cracker, one among many, so they ignored me).

The future doesn't look real hopeful to me, people. Kerry in the WH isn't going to change the petty, self centered, venal way people are.

I voted yes on 55 and 56 and no on 57 and 58, and the last two have won while it looks like 56 is dead but 55 looks like it just squeaked by. This sucks, we are now going to be held hostage to a small minority in the legislature because of that.

I voted no for long-term debt for short-term problems,and no for a balanced budget amendment. I was against it on the national level, I'm against it for the state level. It's a silly, arbitrary limitation.

21. I was gonna vote no.. but last night decided it..

Davis was stumping with Arnold for the same thing.. yes on 57 & 58.. and I figured... maybe they know something I dont.. and my state is so dicked up I want it to have the best chance..

That was my reasoning... A top dem and governator.. together.. plus pass in our leg = I voted for it.


Another factor honestly was some on DU wanting it to fail just to hurt the state because it was ahhnoolld and would make him look bad... that wasnt acceptable to me.. being as this is my home... that showed me.. maybe it was good.. kinda reverse logic.

Arnold's ad campaign was worth it I guess. He threatened armageddon cuts to education and services if it wasn't passed, pretty much scaring liberals into voting for it to save the progams which they love. I voted against it becuase it was irresponsible policy, but many of my liberal friends voted for it, reasoning that we can pay the debt later when the economy isn't in the tanker.

I drive a lot in L.A., and have yet to see a Kerry bumpersticker; I don't even know what the artwork is. In fact, over the past year, I've seen about 4 Dean stickers, one Graham sticker, one Kuchinch sticker (but a bunch on telephone polls and construction walls) and only my and my wife's Edwards stickers.

Our voice finally gets to count in a primary, the initiatives are important and yet nobody seems to be bothered.
