Georgians were able to vote for the new state flag
in addition to voting for the dem nominee.

I hope we can finally put this ugly issue to rest.

:hi: Midori!

Please enlighten this uninformed Texan of that which you speak.:D

Methinks this has something to do with Dixie's Stars n' Bars, but I'm not sure.

4. basically its a vote between two flags
the one that Georgia has now or the one former Gov Roy Barnes adopted in 2001. alot of people are mad because Gov perdue promised a vote on the 1956 flag vs the one that is currently flying today as part of the presidential primary but backed out and erased the 56 flag from the ballot so leaving the Perdue flag and the Barnes flag for people to vote on.

2. Does anyone have links to what the proposed flags look like?
I'd really like to see the choices that the voters had.

:hi: Midori! :loveya:

10. Thanks, Midori - the Atlanta Journal-Constitution
has a "Readers Voting Comments" section in today's paper - I found some of the comments quite interesting. http://www.ajc.com/news/content/custom/politics/blog/georgia/archives/2004/03/02/electronic_elections_almost.html#comments

I am a republican, and specifically went to vote for John Edwards. I was under the impression this was an open primary. The people working did not explain to me that if I checked Republican as my affiliation that I would not be able to vote for the Democratic candidate. I obviously did not realize this until I put the electronic card in the machine. I know for a fact that at least 10 of my friends experienced the the issue, and all would have voted for Edwards. Very disappointing that this was not made clear to voters beforehand.

Please note, emphasis was mine. I think the Pukes were out to sabotage Kerry; not that I have a thing about him or Edwards, it just appears from a number of comments on the board that this was the plan. Check it out. Also comments on BBV (Bev, you might want to check this site):

*Voted in Dekalb, four of the five machines did not read the card.

*My voting machine froze for about 30 seconds while recording my vote. I am very concerned that my vote was not properly recorded and there is no paper record of my vote either!

Scary. :scared: Thank heaven Alaska doesn't have these machines yet.

13. I voted in Hall County Ga. Machines no problem
This is the fourth voting period we used these macines here in Hall, and there have been no apparent problems.

I'm surprised someone didn't tell you when you picked up your voting card that the white one was for the Dems and the blue one was for the repugs. Didn't you notice that there was only one name "George Bush" on your card?

When you put your electronic card into the machine and saw there was only one name, did you ask for assistance from the attendant?

Don't worry too much about it. I've been checking the voting results on the Dept of State site and, although it's very early, Edwards is winning.

You won't have the same problem in November, it's an open ballot then and you vote for the candidate you want.
