1. American Enterprise Institute=GOP think tank...
Edited on Tue Mar-02-04 09:22 AM by Q
...a guy that represents the Republican point of view that wants to privatize SS. GOP mouthpiece is talking about a 'long life expectancy'...but doesn't acknowledge the reality that one can't necessarily work till the day they die. Republicans want Americans to 'work longer'.

3. Does AEI Live On C-Span?
Name an issue, any issue and this slimeball operation has a "spokesperson" to deal with it. Generally white, male and in his 50's...and always with a condescending look as though he knows all and we're a bunch of stupid kids.

As usual, the AEI doofus will ignore the reality a majority of Americans are facing. He's got a nice, cushy job to present misinformation and lives off the corporate welfare nipple. This bastard should talk!

I have to leave and do some things. I'm renewing my membership in NCPSS&M today!!

Much better organization than AARP who sold seniors down the river on Medicare!!

6. Not Sure About AARP
I'm closing in on "that age" and had a discussion with my mother-in-law...a big AARP user/supporter. She was upset with them caving in on the Medicare sell-out, but she thinks that 9 times out of 10 they're on her side and have helped her in various legal and medical situations.

It's shameful for these pompus jerks to think that if you can't save money over 30 or 40 years, you're a failure. This coming from some academia rat who never had a real job in his life and resides in a fishbowl/sespool fed by money culled from the labor of the people he disdains. Makes me sick!

I'm fortunate that I have saved over the years to now have a fairly substantial "nest egg"...since in the 80's I knew Social Security wouldn't be around for me. Not that the system would go broke. I knew then that one day the Repugnicans would loot it and gut it.

7. SOOOO FUNNY- said slug just admitted
that it would be impossible for people to save up enough to replace SS, and they should go out and get some kind of job that gave a 401 k or some kind of savings program!!Tell that to the woman who gets $3.00 for each motel room cleaned!!

Said people just GET BY on SS (AND HE WANTS TO PRIVATIZE IT?)

The income from a $1MILLION at two percent is $20,000. Two percent is more than savings accounts are paying now. Or we can put our money in the stock market lottery. I'm all for investing in stocks and bonds, but most do not provide good dividends any more, so you would have to sell them to get income; then you would have to have enough stocks and bonds so you didn't get creamed by having to sell at a low price just to get the next month's groceries;and what happens if the whole market is down, or you have picked losers?

Sorry AEI guy, we need the SS FLOOR.
