Tammy Bruce to be on the new Liberal radio network?
I'm watching the replay of Wash Jounral on C-span2 and she's the guest. She just said that her flagship would be in Los Angeles and something about the new network.

We know it's starting up next month since Randi annonced it on her show today. But does anyone know if Tammy Bruce will be a shoe host, too?

1. So much for liberal. Whoever are putting this together
really better revisit this decision. She isn't even slightly left of center let alone liberal. Or is the liberal network owned by Murdoch, too?

3. Radio networks have to add balance
As long as she's a COnservative in a sea of Liberalism I don't care. I live in NY and WABC radio, the radio version of Faux in our area, had several Liberal personallities, like Lynn Samuels and Richard Bey, until they purged them both last year. They still have Ron Kuby from Curtis and Kuby, but Kuby is more like Colmes than a fighter...but he still has more of a spine than Colmes himself.

4. the ones in Chicago
don't seem to need balance. They are ultra-rw, 24/7. And there are 5 of them vs. 0 lib/dem.

5. She just said that Walmart is a beacon
showing what the free market can do. The callers to the lib network will slaughter her.

6. Balance or not, there goes the credibility if it's true.
She masquerades as a liberal on Faux. Meanwhile, her books could give Coulter a run for the money in hate speech.

9. Coulter???
Edited on Sat Feb-28-04 12:55 AM by Cleita
The first time I became aware of Tammy Bruce, she was a guest on a news' show with Wolfie I think, and it was at the time that Hillary Clinton's book "Living History" and Ann Coulter's book "Treason" had come out. First she did the I'm a liberal lesbian announcement, then she proceeded to villify Hillary's book as a "pack of lies" and then pointed to Ann's book as "a woman who speaks the truth".

I was so dumbfounded that I did a google search on both of them and it turns out they both contribute articles to the same right wing rag, the name escapes me right now, and they are rather good friends. Dare I speculate that she and Ann are more than friends?

don't want a rabble rouser. Randi Rhodes is wonderful, but she has a much cooler approach. But a real noisy guy like Malloy...nope.

Franken....untested on the radio. Part of his humor is his own appearance. Isn't always that great against conservatives on TV, from what I've observed. Inconsistent in how quick he is on the uptake.

Garafalo...brainy, OK on TV, but also untested on radio.

RFK, Jr. ditto..

Aside from Rhodes, who has stature, there's no one else that has a professional standing in terms of radio experience.

They are really missing the boat if they don't add Malloy, too.

Then there is ...Ed Schultz...Republican until recently, and not as liberal as one would like. (not on this network)

It's sort of like watching the two leading Dem candidates wind up as voters for IWR...Half a loaf?

12. Franken shouldn't do too bad
I was rolling on the floor on more than one occassion from his book, I can only imagine how he would be on the radio reaming stupid conservatives with humour and panache.

Who knows, maybe usings Randi Rhodes, RFK Jr., and Al Franken is a deliberate pick, set us as a contrast to the RW radio by NOT relying on firebreathing dragons.

15. Having RFK Jr. and Garafalo is like repeating the mistake of having
Mario Cuomo have his own show....it did horribly in hurt liberal presence on radio.

11. Wasn't she on Arnold's transiton team?
I always thought she was conservative. I don't know a lot about her, but her books are advertised in the same category as Hannity, Savage, Goldberg, etc.

16. I really like Guy James
I like Guy and I like his facts on the matter. There is one thing that troubles me about Randi Rhodes, Why is she working for Clearchannel? I am not knocking her, I just don't get it.

I am tired of FAIR.. I am tired of the "play nice" doctrine..

We have been HAMMERED OVER THE HEAD WITH LIES for 25-30 years from the right wingers and just when we think we are going to get something for US, we are supposed to do cartwheels over "pretend democrats" who plan to vote for Bush...and sports figures' commentary..and "business leaders" commentaries..

Sorry..but if that's it.. they have missed by a mile..

It's odd that we are not "allowed" to be bold, brash and in-your-face, but must instead have "our" broadcasters tempered by their "counterparts"..

Maybe some of Saddam's unemployed minders have found work in the USA:eyes:

The good news is that this is a commericial network so IF they have Tammy Bryce and she's bad, hopefully she will get bad ratings and they will replace her.

What counts is that at least some of their hosts are good. There will be turnover.
