hardball: Jim Moore on Burkett.... other guests dealing w/AWOL tonight

from rmpalmer's locked thread, with appropriate edits of banned words

Looks interesting tonight. From their email:

Tonight we'll look at the growing impact of the Vietnam War's legacy in this year's presidential election... the brouhaha over the President's Air National Guard service the question of "where were you during the war, daddy?" as Chris likes to say, has become front and center...

We'll talk to a couple of veterans: Max Cleland and Del Sandusky ...We'll also talk to Hardball favorite "B-1" Bob Dornan who flew fighter jets in the Air Force and California Air National Guard...He'll tell us what his experience was like and what we should know about President Bush's service...We'll also speak to James Moore, the author of a new book, "Bush's War for Reelection: Iraq, the White House, and the People"

Later in the show we'll convene an A-List panel of historians: Doris Kearns Goodwin, Doug Brinkley and David Maraniss and get into why history is coming back to haunt this race...

We'll lead the show with "The Commanders": Our roundtable of political strategists from the Dem primary campaigns

1. other thread had post mentioning Goodwin's plagiarism
don't forget Brinkley wanted money to talk about JFK Jr, after his death, and has rep as a hack

and Maraniss.......fricking anti-Clinton propagandist is all he is, and for what he should be remembered, rather than that overpraised paean to Vietnam chauvinism

2. We're refighting more than the Vietnam War this election.
It feels to me as though we are fighting again most of the major wars fought in the past. We're refighting the Revolution to regain basic rights, the Civil War to hang onto civil rights, World War II to rid ourselves of a dictator, Vietnam to learn once again that there is no such thing as honor in preemptive war, and the spirit of Cold War is being ginned up as the administration has sought to define a new great enemy in the Islamic peoples of the world. The greater war we are fighting is for our soul as a nation.

3. excellent observation
also, this isn't about Vietnam, nearly as much as it's about the venality, mendacity, hypocrisy, cowardice etc., of bush and his cronies in the Chickenhawk Battalion

everybody who was old enough KNOWS why people tried to get into the guard....only ONE reason

those who try to change history are uniformly Bush supporters

you've seen the QUOTES that the media refuse to tag him with, out of his sniveling past, right?

they're only too eager to repeat endlessly Kerry's testimony of soldier atrocities in Vietnam (all true, unfortunately) in front of congress, but NOT once have I seen dumbo's reference to shooting his ear with a shotgun

not one time

and there are others, too; several linked here yesterday

where are the media on THOSE? they could stick such a huge fork in him, if they had the slightest inclination.
