Charles Rangel's call to "Remember Florida"
Edited on Mon Feb-16-04 03:04 PM by dralston
I was inspired by Rep. Rangel's appearance on MTP this week.

If we begin to wear plain orange buttons as a visual symbol that we won't forget the electoral fraud that happened in Florida in 2000, it could become very powerful by the time the convention rolls around.

Imagine a sea of people all wearing small oranges as a non-verbal communication of our committment to turning out the vote in 2004!

Thoughts?

On edit:

2. I think it is a great idea. I think that is wound that has yet to heal
and I use the analogy of when our first son was born. Every time he celebrates a birthday, it seems like just yesterday that he was born. I think the closer we get to November, it will seem like just yesterday millions of people were robbed of their votes. When the wound re-opens, it won't be an easy one to stop the bleeding.

I know I feel my anger getting stronger now that we are getting closer to November. I want a button.

5. I'm not about to forget, either.
It was my son's first election. He was just barely old enough to vote. What a thing to have to remember as your first voting experience.

I want a button, too.

8. It was my husbands first election too. Not because of his age but

because he "hated all politicians and refused to vote for bullshit" When there was a candidate worth his vote, he would vote. Well, I changed his mind and he is slowly gaining more of an interest in politics (thanks to DK). I dragged him to vote and he voted for Gore. After the results came in, he was bitter. He was of the minset that votes don't count.

Ironically, he didn't like Gore very much in 2000 but now thinks he should be the one going up against the chimp and he now intends to vote in every election (did in 2002 and will in 2004). He is coming along, slowly but surely.

4. A great idea from your superior mind . . .
We should wear orange buttons to profess we will never, never, never get over it. Where can I get one?
