Drudge crying like the little baby that he is! BWWWAAAAAAA!!!
Read the dudes lash back regarding the criticisms being directed at him for his Rove smear about Kerry and the Intern.... Bwwwaaaaa...

The problem Mr. er...Drudge, is that you are a serial rumormonger and a Rove stoolie which makes you the lowest piece of pond scum in Internet history.

1. while I'm no fan of Matt Drudge,
He makes some good points here. Please help me to understand why these two situations are different.
This doesn't help with the idea of a "right wing media".

3. You don't get it...
Drudge is the outlet for Rovian smears and if you don't think that the media hasn't been compliant little puppy dogs for the Republican party then you haven't been paying attention.

17. There ain't no doubt it came from Rove...
and even if it didn't I'm sure he got Roves approval to run with it.

4. Do you think Clinton got a pass on his infidelities at any point?
Edited on Mon Feb-16-04 09:46 AM by Timefortruth
The difference as I see it is that with VP Bush there was an attributable source for the rumor. In this instance there is only the rumor. Furthermore, we don't know yet that the mainstream won't cover it, they are camped out at the "girlfriend's" parent's house.

Also, remember Gary Hart? But how much coverage did Newt's despicable behavior get.

There is no bias.

9. What Drudge fails to report...
Is that in 1992, this was shut down by Bush by simply getting angry and telling reporters that they shouldn't report on rumors. So they stopped. This story, despite the way Drudge tries to play it up, lasted about two days, tops. Bush simply would not tolerate discussion about it, and the media played along.

So...now I ask you...Please help me to understand why these two situations are different.

13. Remember the rumors about Jeb's alleged affair?
They shut down the press then, too. And how come Drudge isn't reporting about Neil Bush's divorce mess?

5. Maybe we should reopen the issue
"The rumor of President Bush having an affair was never proved by the media. The developing Kerry drama may or may not join it on the shelf."

Maybe we should have a closer look into the Bush affair. Surely we can dig this person up.

Literally, you’ll have to. She’s dead. (Uh-Oh!)

The rumors of Poppy and Jennifer go back to the Ford years. A former lobbyist friend and I got to some serious drinking a few years ago. He was telling stories about who-was-doing-who on the Hill and I offered that Poppy was clean. He laughed like heck and immediately popped up with Jennifer Fitzgerald’s name. Said everyone on the Hill knew about it.

Here’s more:

Within just a couple of days of making Bush's nomination (This is Poppy to be Director at the CIA) public, the Ford White House was aware that it had a significant public relations problem. To get re-elected, Ford had to appear as a reformer, breaking decisively with the bad old days of Nixon and the Plumbers. But with the Bush nomination, Ford was putting a former party chairman and future candidate for national office at the head of the entire intelligence community. Ford's staff began to marshal attempted rebuttals for the attacks on Bush. … In case he were asked about Bush politicizing the CIA, Ford was to answer:" "I believe that Republicans and Democrats who know George Bush and have worked with him know that he does not let politics and partisanship interfere with the performance of public duty." That was a mouthful. …In the meantime, Bush was in touch with the Ford White House about his impending return to Washington. On November 27 he wrote to Max L. Friedersdorf, an assistant to Ford: "We'll be back there in mid-December. It looks like I am walking into the midst of a real whirlwind, but all I know to do is to give it my all and be direct with the Committee." Then, pencilled in by hand: "Max- I will be there in EOB on the 10th—Jennifer Fitzgerald with me now in China will be setting up a schedule for me a day or so in advance," and would Fridersdorf please cooperate with Bush's girl Friday.

10. This kind of public whining is exactly why Drudge will NEVER...
...work for a real media outlet. I've never witnessed such unprofessional behavior by a reporter in my life.

What a LOOOOSER!

14. Drudge Would Have A Story If...
The rumor turns into a real person. Had Drudge put out the Clinton stuff Cruella Goldberg fed him, and it not been backed up eventually by a Blue Dress, Drudge would be working an ad paper somewhere. Now if this intern was coming forward (ala Jennifer Flowers), that's what would get the media's attention and big time. Throwing names out, especially in a political campaign, is a non-starter.

Another example...didn't know if anyone's posted it, is Paula Parkinson...Dan Quayle's sweetie...that one was well out there in '92 as well and never got any traction. Some RWers claim that story was planted to get Quayle off the ticket but Poppy nixed it cause he liked the thought that keeping Quayle around was the best life insurance policy he could have.

Right now the Vietnam issue is glowing since this regime has backed itself into a corner and is desperate to divert attention. Unlike '98 when Drudge was an unknown...and the Internet was also unknown...the Monicagate fiasco got a lot of push that caught the national attention (also there wasn't other distractions going on then like invasions and an economic recession)...now he's cried wolf one too many times and he's not only been exposed as a "tabloid journalist", but people know he's highly partisan.

There are a lot of chickens coming home to roost on the GOOP and it's morality cops. Bunnypant's military non-record is a big one that won't go away, but expect as many diversions as RoveCo can throw out that keeps the real light off this regime. They figure they're safe on the sex issue since * has the sex appeal only to those who believe it's a sin to lust in your heart...LOL
