More good jobs lost in Missouri.

I used to work at the local hospital in the medical records department. Today I learned that all the medical transcriptionists will lose their jobs as of March 1st. That's at least 8 full time and several part time positions. Our 'co-workers'(that's newspeak to make it seem there's no difference between management and staff) can apply for six or seven jobs transcribing pathology and radiology reports or find work with Medquist. Medquist is the outside transcription company that probably put in the lowest bid to win the hospital's business. Lovely choice, a drop in pay or lose your job.

1. Outsourcing means ...

There's nothing inherintly wrong with specialization. However, most outsourcing is done simply to drive down wages and cut (or eliminate benefits).

I'm VERY much for Universal Health Care now. I think it will be a HUGE help to small businesses who have a difficult time (or don't care) negotiating health care on behalf of their employees.

3. The only problem is...

where exactly are those jobs going?

If to India, there is no "right to privacy" laws there like there are in the USA...so what protections do patients have....

4. Work harder & longer for less pay & benefits....that's the goal of Bush

and the republicans and their corporate donors, Wal Mart, oil companies, military arms makers, pharmaceutical companies, insurance companies, on and on.

3.2 million jobs lost...millions of jobs sent overseas.

And the working persons ONLY help against management is the Unions and they have vowed to break each and every one of them.

That is their goal divide and conquer (blacks, women, immigrant workers, the poor, etc) and they see us all only as slaves who deserve nothing.
