I think I'm seeing the Dem strategy.....
Weaken Bush with everything possible right up front. A dozen good scandals. Hit him hard right now on a dozen different fronts.

Here's the first batch, some with criminal indictments probable.

Plame
AWOL
memogate
9-11
OSP
Cheney-Scalia
Iraq lies

Once those are exposed, trails will lead to others.

Harken SEC
energygate
Election Fraud

If he's hit hard enough, his $200 million won't matter.

2. Works for me.
Here's another one that's just turned up....

On C-Span earlier, several House Dems (Sherrod Brown, Frank Pallone and Jane Schakowski) were talking about the terrible Medicare bill, and said they've asked for an investigation of the taxpayer-funded ad campaign, which they believe is illegal.

Drip, drip, drip...indeed.

10. I agree
Since Dems have no power over the media the confluence of all these negative Bush events could simply be coincidence and happenstance.

6. I hope you are right
That this is indeed a long term strategy. If so, it's off to a great start.

We needed to start with something easy to comprehend that would grab peoples attention. I think AWOL does that. It serves to chip away at the Bush* teflon. The public "gets" the obvious display of favoritism and avoidance of duty. Even the press is now at least discussing Chimps supposed character.

We can't let the WMD lies slip either. We've got to keep the heat on that.

Once the surface teflon has been scratched away and people understand that Bush* is an immoral opportunist, we can follow up with the more complicated issues like Harken and OSP. Instead of tuning out, the public will actually pay attention.

One thing I would add to your list: Shrub didn't include the cost of Iraq in this year's budget request--they won't ask until after the election. We can't let them get away with this $70 Billion shell game. The public needs to know about this.

7. They need to get serious though, don't you think? Iraqis and coalition
soldiers are dying in droves for absolutely nothing but corporate greed. All of the crap in Congress needs to be thrown out. All they care about is politics and scoring cash. Has Kerry, the corporate media golden boy, the one they have chosen for us, called for an end to this madness even though we know with CERTAINTY that it was wrong? No one but Kucinich has said to end this now. They are all part of the scam.

8. The way to defeat an incumbent
Is to make the incumbent the issue. That's what all these issues are doing.

11. I still think scandal is the thing to do him in.
Scandals can be a powerful thing. The only reason it took so long is because of the entire Gov't is under 'Pub control.

The Press is finally challenging the WH. It's about time!

I guess it took a drop in ratings to give them any balls.

Let's make 'em keep them!

9. Sgt. Grasswire.......I hope you're right
but will the MEDIA maintain the pressure?

if it's to their advantage, they will.

how does it redound to said advantage?

I don't see it....I hope to heaven that I'm wrong, but they've been able to get away with EVERYthing so far, and that's ONLY because the media have been actively abetting each depredation by their refusal to cover the bad stuff, and actively CHEERLEADING for the worst (read destruction of constitution, waging criminal aggression), while drowing out ALL dissent

persuade me I'm wrong

is the herd instinct that strong?

one can only hope....but I think there's more to it now, since media consolidation of the last eight years

12. Sgt. Grasswire, here's a few reasons...
Bush's ratings are dropping so it's giving them reason to believe the public won't crucify them for badgering the Pres.

Political season is becoming HOT. They've got to report what's happening. As long as the accusations keep coming, they have no choice but to report them, and the WH has no option but to try to refute. Or try.....

There are too many things happening all at once. Cheny is getting hammered, WMD story a problem, seniors don't like their medicare solution, legal immegrants hate the new freebe for illegals, and on, and on.
