Veterans Angry Over Kid Rock Flag Flap
KANSAS CITY, Miss. — Forget Janet Jackson: The Veterans of Foreign Wars is peeved at Kid Rock (search).

The VFW is upset that media outlets are ignoring the poncho Rock wore during the Super Bowl (search) halftime show, which was made by cutting a slit in an American flag. Rock later tossed the flag into the crowd.

The VFW's commander in chief, Edward Banas Senior, says Rock's outfit was "in poor taste and extremely disrespectful." Banas lamented that the NFL, MTV and CBS have issued apologies for Justin Timberlake's ripping Janet Jackson's clothes but have said nothing about Rock.

1. wonder what the think of W using a flag to give autographs
during a fundraising stop? Don't have the pic - but there is one that shows him scribbling his autograph on a flag for someone in a crowd in Michigan.

2. I agree in that the Superbowl halftime show was not the place
I will defend his right to do such an act but I found it highly distasteful and was also offended by it. It should not have taken place when it did. IMHO I believe in Choice. It was his choice to do such an offensive act it is my choice to despise him for it.

It is sad that Bush has turned patriotism into a fad. And all these ignorant fake patriots make me sick. Kid Rock, Toby keith, Dennis Miller etc.. Put all of these pussy patriots out on the streets of Baghdad, and then watch how quick they turn on Bush.

Fucking pussies.

5. Kid Rock performed at the Johnny Cash memorial
Sponsored by the Cash family at the Ryman, shown on CMT TV. Tim Robbins was the MC; all the usual suspects performed, plus a few surprises.

I truly expected Kid Rock to be dreadful. No, he appeared in a "conservative" t-shirt & sang a straightforward, acoustic version of "The Lonely Voice of Youth" (asks what is truth).

Not that I've become a big Kid Rock fan but, apparently, the power of Johnny was strong enough to make him behave. The Superbowl halftime show brought out the worst of just about everybody.

I'm hoping a DVD of the memorial goes on sale; it would be worth buying. The only Red White & Blue was Willie's guitar strap.

6. it's no different
than defacing the flag by flying it from your antenna or window until it is tattered and filthy in the need to flaunt your "patriotism"

7. Wonder what Banas thinks about soldiers getting killed daily?
Getting killed in a fucking trumped up Oil War for Halliburton. Don't care as much about that as you do some singer wearing the flag as a poncho.

Let me guess,Banas is a hard core Republican.
