4. Sadly, the rest of the show was BAD
Maher usually pushes the envelope with cutting edge, highly relevant guests and pointed questions. This week they all decided to sing Kumbaya and not offend anyone.

Maher did his best to rescue, but his guests were just not up to it this week. Sean Astin (Samwise Gamchee) is supposed to be a Democrat, but basically was afraid to offend anyone and spent most of the time complimenting Bush and stating trivial obviousities. Why employ non-political actors and comedians on to discuss politics on a political show? Was Sarandon, Garafalo, Coultier, Penn, Chuck Heston, The Pope, Huey Lewis or Madlock too busy? Why not keep Michael Moore on longer to join in the conversation? The Hobbit/Mindy the Rabbit/ The boring bald guy trio was tough to watch!! Really tough Bill... Get better guests; we pay good money to watch this drivel and you have only one show to do all week!!!

OK I can accept one bad show. I liked the song too.

5. I agree
I was very disappointed in Astin. I expected the woman to be right wing since she admitted it. I thought the comedian was pretty good. However, He really does need to get more progressives on - my God! aren't there enough right wingers on T.V. as it is?!?!

7. yes, sean astin was awful
he kept interrupting and nobody wanted to hear him, especially not bill...

but i do think that he burned the mindybitch a couple times pretty well. it was worth watching to see her getting nervous and itchy when he was bringing up wmd, etc etc.

OH!! except, i was pissed, when he said that * didn't campaign on iraq, i was like "YEAH!!!" and then hobag was all "that's a lie, yes he did." but in FACT!!!!!
i remember a video quote of bush during the campaign saying that he believes that troops aren't supposed to be used for "nation building" and things like that...

:wtf: why didn't bill jump down her throat for that one?

6. normally Maher packs the discussion board
with 2 dems & one repub, that usually got slapped around pretty hard last season. This year he seems to be getting the dems on before on the satellite giving them free time without, hecklers. Which I think then he tries to over compensate by stuffing the discussion with repubs. Max Cleland & Michael Moore, he isn't picking bad guests.

But yes I was disappointed again...

10. I love Bill Maher's show BUT this season
it's been a disappointment so far. Yeah, he's had some good guests on satellite and his Kobe Teeth skit last night was worth saving, but honestly, the roundtable discussion is the bulk of his show and the first two shows of the season have been dismal in that respect.

Astin was PITIFUL last night! I cringed every time he opened his mouth, because I wanted for him to say something intelligent, but after awhile I knew he wasn't going to. We kept saying, WHO is booking Bill's guests? Why in the world would he book Sean Astin? He truly was an example of an actor getting heard just because he's an actor and not because he's informed and has something important to contribute to the discussion.

This is ridiculous. We've been waiting how many months now for Bill's show to return to HBO? You'd think he would have lined up some pretty good guests in that time away.

I hope it gets better. Of course, I will continue to Tivo it and hope for the best.

11. Great opening.
The show was good but "Rudy" was a horrible guest. Not funny and a lapdog of Bush calling himself a Democrat. The New Rules were good as usual and Micheal Moore was also good.

12. I don't doubt that Sean Astin is a caring person...
Dem or Rep but he does go on and on and on and says absolutely nothing.

You should hear him on the special extended edition of 'Lord of the Rings' DVD's - "Peter Jackson's great blaa blaa blaa - what a thrill it was working with Ian Holm, blaa, blaa, blaa - I love how we did this scene, blaa, blaa, blaa..." You get the picture?
