Why can't I recall my Governor? - Rowland And The G. Fox Deal
The amount of crap this guy has his hand in is unbelievable.

<The deal that moved the community college downtown involved a web of well-known Rowland friends, political aides and business associates. Among them are Hartford entrepreneur and philanthropist Anthony Autorino, former state Senate majority leader William DiBella, and two top aides who have since left the governor's office, Peter Ellef and the now-convicted Lawrence Alibozek.

Autorino was one of eight people appointed by Rowland in late 1997 to recommend projects to revitalize downtown Hartford. Several months later, the group came up with what would become known as the Six Pillars for reviving the city. And in early 1999, Autorino announced plans to make one of those pillars his own: He would buy the vacant G. Fox building from the city, and make it the new home of Capital Community-Technical College.

The plan ran into problems from the beginning. Autorino and the city couldn't come to terms on the sale of the building, and a review commissioned by the state Department of Public Works recommended another site for the college.

But by the end of the year, thanks to extraordinary efforts by Rowland, Ellef and other members of the administration to make the deal work, Autorino and his partners - including DiBella - had resolved their issues with the city. Under terms of the new agreement, they would buy 60 percent of the building and the state would take the remaining 40 percent as a new home for the college.

1. I'm with you on the recall plan
CT doesn't have a law for recall does it?

2. unfortunately no
but impeachment investigations are underway. No CT Governor has ever been impeached. However Rowland was not invited to the big fundraiser Bush is at in Greenwich.

3. I'm mixed about impeachment
I think he deserves to get impeachment but I think it'll cost a lot of money. I feel Rowland will let them go ahead with the impeachment process and cost us all this money. I don't think he'll resign either. Whatever happens, his political career is over.

That's cool that he did not get an invite. Even repugs are turning on him.

5. I hope so
I think the state is ready for that. They can't do any worse than what Rowland has done. At least they could put some class back into the state.

9. who knows?
It's already a pretty Democratic state as it is - just the evil governor and 3 of the 5 people in the House are RepubliCONs. And, Shays seems fairly moderate for a CON. I don't know Simmons' voting record, but he at least seems to be honest.

We need to get some exciting young blood in the party, though. Lieberman and Dodd are pretty good senators (Pres or VP candidate is another story) - but both are getting a bit on in years.

I think the next governor's race is Blumenthal's to lose if he decides to run. The woman that is the sec of state is a possibility, right (bysewicz?)

7. Cost
We need to bring up the cost of this. Shouldn't our state legislators' time be better spent fixing the budget? How much money is this costing the state?
