Voter passion and turnout--Favors us?

I feel that anger and passion have to be on our side and smugness and complacency on the other. Thoughts on this? Bush transgressions = too numerous to even begin to get into here. Turnout would have to favor us I think, right?

Passion favoring Republican turnout--
-Pro Iraq War, thinks Bush's post 9/11 performance heroic
-Gay haters, same sex marriage issue
-Bible thumpers (same voters as #2)

Aside from the Iraq War fans, who I still think will not turn out as strongly as the opponents, does anyone think shrub will get any serious traction with these other issues, as far as turnout?

Also, the turnout numbers in IA and NH, do they translate into general election turnout? Any history or links on this?

1. I just talked to a neighbor next door

We had gotten their magazine in our mailbox. Since I didn't know her we started chatting. She wasn't even alive when Nixon was impreached. She had lived in Houston. Had voted for Bu$h for Governor and was sad to say that she had voted for him as pResident. She said: "I thought I was a Republican, but now I know I'm not." I took her a voter registration form so she can change her party affiliation to Democrat. Her husband is a Democrat.
