Myers: Reserves a 'National Treasure'

WASHINGTON, Jan. 29, 2004 - In this time of crisis, the reserve components are doing exactly what they were designed to do, Air Force Gen. Richard B. Myers said here Jan. 28, and America is grateful for their service.

The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff spoke at the Reserve Officers Association Mid-Winter Conference. The association inducted Myers into the Minuteman Hall of Fame. The association also named South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham "Minuteman of the Year."he was never even in the service

Myers said reservists are integrated seamlessly into the total force, and they are serving in all aspects of the war on terror. "You can be in the loneliest place on the planet with five folks gathered, and if you ask are there any Guard and reservists, you usually get a third or two-fifths of the hands (going) up," Myers said.

The chairman said it is almost impossible to tell reservists from active duty troops.

1. Sounds like more Bushevik propaganda
Nice to give the "Minuteman of the Year" to a gutless Vietnam draft-dodger.

THIS veteran (who actually served and was ready to go to Gulf War I if called) thinks that is more Soviet-style bullshit.

didn't he once own a chain of beauty parlors, and thought to be, as the slur goes, 'light in his loafers'???

:spank:

or, am I confusing him with another South Carolinian alleged closet case?

Minuteman of the Year, huh?

I deserve another
:spank:

7. Just one more reason to never join the Guard or reserves.
What is the point? If you want to be in the Army then join the army. If you want to stay at home and help the home front well too bad you go to Iraq instead. Bush* has done a tremendous amount to destroy the National Guard.

8. This isn't the one that tried to wriggle out of his duty is it?
I don't think it is, but there was some gop honcho that joined the Guard just to add it to his resume to run for office. After he won the office, the unit was alerted that it might be activated and he started talking about how now he was too important to go.
