1. That's the way it is in Texas.
You can vote in any primary you like, but that gets stamped onto your voter registration card, and it makes you an "official" Democrat.

I did the reverse once - I voted for a Republican in the Governor's primary here. I voted for Ann Richards in the general though. For the next two years, I got Republican mailings from Phil Gramm. :puke:

2. Isnt it that way in New Hampshire too?
I thought I heard it on the radio.

You have to remember that most voters arent super-activist plotting neo-cons and dont go to the polls to sabotage.

6. Republicans could only use a Republican ballot
Which is why Bush only received 85% of the vote in NH--a bunch of people who didn't register as Democrats or Independents in time just wrote in Dem names.

Two lifelong conservative friends of mine (hey, I'm into diversity) have already told me they could not possibly vote for Bush this year--one said she'll stay home in protest, the other said she'd vote ABB. I'm hearing more and more of this lately.

Here's an interesting site which lays out the arguments from a Republican:

3. They'd probably vote for Dean anyway
Most Republicans think Bush would have a harder time with Lieberman or Kerry than with Dean.

8. Iowa AND NH were "available" to non-democrats
This stuff needs to STOP..

You should be required to be a registered democrat at least 60 days prior to the primary to be able to vote.. The "last minute" conversions are NOT real.. They are just a way to mess with our elections.. They don;t even HAVE a real primary (who's seriously challenging *?..) and we all know how the DO love to vote, so they can show up at OURS, and make the instant switch..and then just switch back and vote for * in Nov..
