If you like having fun with conservatives, call your favorite conservative talk radio host and talk about spending increases, the farm bill, NEA funding, amnesty for illegals, nation-building, gays in the military, the new Medicare drug entitlement, the Homeland Security Department, and the Patriot Act.

Then ask them if there is ANYTHING Bush could possibly do that would convince them not to vote for Bush. Anything?

1. Oh, yeah. They are beyond livid.
Actually, I think the NEA should be defunded, too, and replaced with more grassroots cultural activities, but it's really a minor issue regardless.

4. And what's so ridiculous about complaining about funding the arts is that

... the average American taxpayer pays 64 cents (about the price of 2 postage stamps)annually to fund the arts.

What idiots! Ignorance is our worst emeny.

7. And every $1 spent on the arts generates $11 in ancillary revenue.

Quite a ROI. Sort of beats the black hole of military expenditures.

As I mentioned in another thread on this topic, this is another pork handout from bush to repigs. After years of assault on the NEA, repigs recently discovered how good the arts were for their local economies - those arts-related ticket, hotel, restaurant, taxi and airline fees add up quickly and provide lots of jobs.

The freepers are going nuts while the Congress is salivating at bringing home more government $ to their districts.
