Whatever happened to the anti-trust laws?
When I was in law school some twenty-five years ago, anti-trust law was a big thing. It was considered to be one of the highest callings of law and one that only the real brainiacs went into.

I'm not a corporate lawyer so maybe I missed something over the years. But you never hear about anti-trust suits anymore. What the hell happened?

Within this short time we now see a couple of companies owning everything. The anti-trust laws made it illegal to do this. Now it seems to be the thing of the day. And now we find ourselves in the fix where the same company that makes the bombs, makes the news, owns the prisons, etc.

What happened that made this turnaround? I remember it seems that the last big deal was the break-up of Ma Bell. But then after that, they've been hesitant to do that again. They made a half-hearted attempt at Microsoft. Any corporate lawyers out there want to explain how we got here?
