Questions on David Kay

During today's hearing, he apparently said the Iraq invasion was justified because we are better off without Saddam, and that there was an intelligence failure, not an exaggeration.
So here's the questions:

On the first assertion - Is the justification for the invasion within the scope of his inquiry? I thought he was looking for weapons and reporting back, so his opinion is no more valid than yours or mine.

On the second assertion - Did Kay get testimony or other information on the run-up to war? Once again, I thought he was supposed to go or send aides to Iraq to look for weapons.

It looks to me like this man is just being used to spin.

1. He's been embarrassed and doesn't like it.

He was a major cheerleader for the war.

He asserted that they were gonna find some heavy duty shit, even after he got over there.

He is also a major Bushco figure. Buycitgo posted some great stuff on this earlier today.
