"This was not a plea negotiation. I did not offer a plea of guilty, and in fact later we rejected any plea of guilty," Black told reporters.
Black said Palm Beach County State Attorney Barry Krischer had assured him in their first meeting that "his office did not prosecute addicts or people who become dependent on prescription medication, that that was not the purpose of this particular matter."
Well, of course Kirscher assured him his office didn't prosecute addicts. What he does do, and what he must have implied to Black, is go after willful doctor shopping and wholesale purchase and dealing! Please, please tell me the public isn't so gullible as to not realize that Black's claim, while technically the truth, isn't the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth!
Furthermore, a "plea negotiation" needn't begin with a "plea of guilty." Black is suggesting that a criminal confession is inextricably tied to a plea negotiation. What nonsense.
