This Dean speech thing has just completely deflated me
Dean is a few people down on my list of preferred candidates, but the discourse and straight BS on his Iowa concession speech has gotten me down in the dumps.

Don't get me wrong. I get a good laugh out of Leno, Letterman and all of their portrayals. I love that stuff, because it is their job to make fun of everybody. Conan O'Brien makes fun of my boy, Kucinich, all the time and I roar at it. What I'm talking about is all this garbage about Dean's speech showing that he is "unpresidential" or was a poor sport or something.

I actually liked it. I thought it was a great thing to do. Here is a guy who hardly anybody heard of a year ago taking third in the caucus, even though he was expected to do better in recent months, however, he was pumped up, ready to rally his troops and move on to do battle with Edwards, Kerry, Clark and the other front runners. He sure got me psyched up. I love it when Dean rolls up his sleeves, buttons up that shirt and gets after it!

I don't think it was a big deal at all. The man at least shows he has some passion and fire. Dean was vocal and outspoken when most of our elected officials in our party were doing spineless jellyfish impressions and barely registering a pulse. I will NEVER EVER fault Howard Dean for showing passion. I hope he keeps it up,and if he loses the nomination then so be it, at least he had the balls to go out and lay it all out on the line.

The hoopla over this is totally unfounded. Somebody out there must be scared of the guy or something, otherwise nobody would be paying attention to it. My disappointment is in the manner in which the media and the Republican party has taken political discourse in our country. 4 years ago Bush was laying out whopper after whopper and all everybody cared about was Gore inventing the internet and being the inspiration for Love Story. Turns out Gore had some merit to his misquoted remarks and Bush has turned into a serial liar of dangerous proportions. So now we have a guy who is disengaged in policy meetings, doesn't read newspapers, started a war for no reason and outed a CIA Agent out of spite, yet it's more important to attack Howard Dean for making an intense speech. I just don't get it.

Anybody notice that he was smiling the whole time? The big smile he had right after he screamed "yeah" was great. Dean is an endearing guy. I like him and hope he both keeps up the intensity and keeps working for our country, whether he wins or loses. Thank you all for reading this if you got this far.

I never understood the "too angry" thing
My problem with the other candidates is they're not angry enough.

2. My brother hated Dean
until he delivered that speech! It wasn't the most polished moment in US political history, but it was spontaneous and sincere.

4. What amazes me...
is that this country is so into competition and sports, and will watch and cheer movies with coaches that give rousing, emotional, passionate speeches to their teams in the lockerroom, and then when a politician (Dean) does exactly the same thing, everybody thinks he's shrill or insane or both. WTF?

5. I'm so disappointed.
Dean was not my first choice however I respect him so much. It
is awful how the media, newspapers, etc., laser in on a candidate
and have the power to absolutely destroy a person over basically
nothing. I sincerely hope he bounces back - he's a hero for
waking up the other democratic candidates excluding Dennis who was
always on the right track.
