Anybody else can't stand David Brooks?
He just infruiates me in a subtle way that makes me want to smash my TV as I watch Newshour. He always talks for us dems - I hate him.

1. Brooks is not a DEM
He's a neocon sympathizer. His new NYTimes column is embarrassing.

3. his role, at least on Newshour, is the conservative viewpoint
he doesn't claim to be a dem. He's slimier than the over the top pukes. He gives me the creeps in a BAD way. I find myself giving my TV the finger, and I love my TV - sorry, Baby!

16. In my opinion Jim Lehrer's News Hour is the only one worth watching
David Brooks does have an irritating view with his slanted remarks.

21. I don't
I used to watch it a lot, thinking it was an unbiased source of information. But that all changed in 2000, during the debates, when Gigot was jumping up and down waving pom-poms for Bush and Shields couldn't even bring himself to say one word in defence Gore.

It was despicable, Jim had a hard time hiding his preferences, every now and then that smarmy smile popped out, and you knew he was voting for Bush.

He is the first person I have seen who doesn't seem intellectually worthy of that institution.

6. Proves we have not yet met - although my college time there was at
a rather young age!

:-)

But I know what you mean - I've gone through life wondering just how far I was over my head!

At least an experience at UC makes it hard not to agree when someone says I should be more humble!

In any case I did not see Brooks being not of "UC" caliber tonight - he JUST stated that there were no trend to be seen, and that he expected nothing would happen in the Thursday debate that would shed light on who was more likely to win NH. He also said that the Bush SOTU was not a great or even good speech.

Now tonight a GOP biased paper - the Boston Herald - is saying that Kerry has pulled in front of Dean by quite a bit.

Who knows!???!

:-)

Latin American friends warned my husband that if he ever travelled to Chile, to avoid discussions about where he went to school (he's also a U of C graduate)

13. We are talking about the econ schools suppy siders and the MBA
program (a few courses)- and before the late 60's, early 70's even here it was of good quality.

The humanities is as solid as it can be - as good as at any other school.

The undergrad science (I know little about the grad program) is also solid, and the medical school supplies most of the midwest's doctors.

The IMF and World Bank have a few too many of its grads doing research/grants - IMHO - but I have never heard of an overall 3rd world fear or distaste for work done by its grads.

8. He made me shoot coffee out of my nose
when I read "Anybody who has several sexual partners in a year is committing spiritual suicide." I couldn't believe it was the New York Times! I had to look at the front to make sure it wasn't an Onion spoof of the NYT.

I wish Peggy Noonan would give up her relationship with Reagan's shoe and commit spiritual suicide with Brooks.

9. David Brooks Has Teeny Little Girly Hands
He makes my skin crawl. I think he makes me angrier than anybody except Smirky himself. I am IRATE that his idiotic, mendacious column is in the NY Times. He's an arrogant prick and deeply stupid. And he has soft, squishy, teeny little girly hands. GROSS!

20. I maintain he's stupid. He's PNAC's patsy, their spokesmodel
He's not credible in the least. His lies are inane. Read my critique below of his column defending PNAC. Ridiculous!

Hey, David Brooks! Get a REAL job! Telling lies for a living must get tiresome.

deconstructing him with a smile... The only time I was surprised by Brooks was when he said is pro gay marriage.

25. Sorry but I respectfully disagree
Mark Shields has gone native, he's great when it comes to railing against tossing widows and orphans out onto the snowbanks. But when it comes down to the down and dirty of politics he's a sellout.

As I mentioned on another thread, during the 2000 campaign, Paul Gigot was jumping up and down waving pom-poms for Bush just for filling a suit. Mark Shields could not bring himself to say one positive thing for Al Gore.

Also - 8 days after Robert Ray exonerated Bill Clinton, (by not indicting him) he issued the Whitewater report in which Ray mentioned that Kathleen Willey had lied about Clinton's conduct, and was almost a indicted herself. Shields re-ran the entire Willey debacle on his Capitol Gang show with no mention of the Ray report.

A gratitous slam on a Democrat.

Shields is a sellout, he knows what side his bread is buttered on.

strong enough or partisan enough to counter
Mr. Small Hands.

26. Hate Him!
And in my opinion, his spot on the NY Times Op/Ed page has convinced me that the venerable Times has been hijacked by the neocons.

When Paul Krugman goes, so does the NYT subscription.

28. There was a time when I wouldn't miss the friday edition
of the newshour. Then along came gigot, and I started missing the program, even sent some mail to the show complaining about the idiot. Then came brooks and it got easier and easier to find something else to do on friday evenings. Then, over the summer the brought that drooling idiot saffire out of what ever crypt he's been lying in, and then they brought back fuckhead brooks. Now, I don't even bother with the newshour.

I used to be a devoted watcher of the Friday political wrap-up, but not anymore. Even PBS has sold out to corporate America, it should be called the ADM Newshour (Archer Daniels Midland).
