Bush sanctioned gay bashing begins:Gays Just Perverts Cardinal Declares
http://www.365gay.com/newscon04/01/012104gayPervs.htm

(Brussels) Signaling a new wave of anti-gay pronouncements endorsed by the Vatican, Belgium's Cardinal Gustaaf Joos has declared that 95 percent of all gays are nothing more than sexual perverts.

Only five to 10 percent of all lesbians and gays "are actually gay" Joos told the Belgian weekly P-Magazine in an interview.

"I am willing to write in my own blood that of all those who call themselves lesbian or gay, a maximum of five to 10 percent are effectively lesbian or gay," Joos said. "All the rest are just sexual perverts," he added.

Cardinal Joos directly falls under the jurisdiction of the pope in Rome," said Toon Osaer a spokesperson for the Belgian conference of Bishops.

But Joos is unrepentant. He later told VRT television, "I'm just speaking out on what thousands of people are thinking but never get a chance to say."

I have two desktops, one has the Grizzly getting ready to chomp the salmon leaping up the falls with the caption "AMBITION: The journey of a thousand miles sometimes ends very, very badly," while the other has the large fries with the capion: "POTENTIAL: Not everyone gets to be an astronaut when they grow up."

5. Protecting molesters of children ISN'T perverted??
Seems to me that the church better back away from this issue right quick given the number of public charges out there of them covering up for priests molesting children.

Would you like to discuss "sexual perverts" Cardinal Joos?

that is a textbook definition of perversion... and we all know that the Catholic church will use what's in its arsenal to keep their grip on your money, even threatening your afterlife as if they have any say-so in it...

10. I am completely baffled.
He seems to be saying that those 5-10% who "actually" gay or lesbian are somehow...okay? And of the other 90%, what exactly is it that these people do that makes them "perverts"? If they're not gay or lesbian, does that mean they're straight? or bi? Is being bisexual worse than being gay?

This kind of muddled delusional thinking is so typical of religious right wingers.

While I understand your hatred, and even agree with the sentiments, I really don't want to 'nuke' the Vatican. Even if we disregard the priceless art and library there, the collateral damage to Rome would be much to high.

Perhaps we could take the Vatican heiarchy to a conveniently empty location, like Yucca Flats, and THEN nuke them?

No, those are too valuable. Let's round up the Pope and his henchmen, take them out to Death Valley, and THEN, with a small tactical nuclear device, take them out.

Thanks for reminding me about what's really important

How about San Clemete Island? Navy's been using it as a target zone for years, it's pretty much uninhabitable by native life already...

33. How much is that art worth?
Edited on Wed Jan-21-04 02:23 PM by kgfnally
How many Catholics are starving while their leaders live better than many kings?

Isn't the purpose of a Christian priest- at least, part of that purpose- to clothe the naked, heal the sick, shelter the homeless, succor the suffering, and feed the hungry?

How many people could be clothed, healed, housed, comforted, and fed if the Roman Catholic Church sold all its art treasures and grand constructions and bent the resulting cash upon those goals?

The Catholic church heirarchy has lost its way.

No one has ever put a price tag on it.

Your idea is a good one. It was, in fact, a plot point in the film "The Shoes of the Fisherman", about a newly elected Pope, played by Anthony Quinn, who sells off the Vatican's art treasures to feed the hungry.

Then, strange as it may seem, according to this logic, if a lesbian transsexual should marry a woman, then the marriage is heterosexual? Gotcha!!! You must now define what a man is and what a woman is!

Opposing Gay Marriage doesn't make you a homophobe.

I don't think that Bush is a Homophobe. I think he's a narcissist who will say anything to improve his position. He believes in nothing beyond his right to rule.

So don't take it personally.

Edited on Wed Jan-21-04 02:37 PM by Stuckinthebush
An irrational fear of homosexuality.

Bush is afraid that homosexuality will be a danger to the institution of marriage if gays and lesbians are allowed to form committed relationships sanctioned by the state.

That is irrational.

I'd call him a huge homophobe. I'd also call him a narcissist.

He was equally strident in questioning democracy, saying in the same interview,

“Politics, democracy. Don’t make me laugh. The right to vote, what is that all about? I think it is curious a snot-nosed, 18-year-old has the same vote as a father of seven. One has no responsibilities whatsoever, the other provides tomorrow’s citizens.”

49. The greater "immorality" is this...
Edited on Wed Jan-21-04 06:06 PM by Selwynn
It doesn't matter how you feel about the "morality" of one's sexual orientation, promoting an atmosphere of prejudice and slanderous demaning of other groups, genders, races, etc. is the far greater "immorality." That's what discriminatory anti-gay legislation does, that's what the rheotoric of justifiable social inequality for gays does, that's what George Bush did last night. It's open seasons on "faggots," who are not fit to live with the same rights as privileges as the "superior" people.

Hell, let's just fire up the ovens again and go for the final solution to people who's lifestyles or beliefs we don't like. God forbid we offer them EQUALITY UNDER THE LAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*edit* - I want to make clear that "immorality" is in quotation marks, meaning that I do not personally believe ones sexual orientation is a moral issue, however for those who do, the fact remains that it is a far greater "sin" to do what our society is doing, and what it is empowering the world to do.
