3. I wonder if it has something to do with comparing
Bush*'s awful SoTU to what the progressives proposed this year's SoTU should be. I am only halfway through the progressive speech, and I am also sad. The comparison of what we could be, and the garbage Bush has turned us into is heartbreaking.

Selwynn posted the Center for American Progress SoTU speech in this thread

5. I am listening to Mike Malloy right now
and he is in the same mood. He keeps saying we are losing our country. He is saying "We cannot lose it", "we have to fight". My eyes are brimming over.

I agree. Give me a candidate and I will for the first time in my life be out there working hard stumping for that candidate, whomever it turns out to be. I do not care who it is.

31. Was the look on his face precious, or what?
He was caught, and even though he mostly maintained his blustering smirk, he was filled with hate and giving them a warning look. More than anything, he was astonished to face resistance.

Delicious.

33. Did you notice him completely snub Powell at the end?
In the hand shaking segment after the lies, Junior completely ignored Powell, shaking hands with people on either side of him. Colin had that big broad grin on his face and was positioning himself for a touch from the prophet; shunned, he kept smiling...

Good. I want them all to crash and burn in thorough humiliation, turning on each other like the selfish thugs they are.

on C-Span and there were maybe 3 callers(An immigrant cheering for Georgie's immigration plan, A Christian fundamentalist from Texas and a "Democrat" who fell in love) that were in total support for Srubya. Even the Republican callers were disagreeing with the selected simpleton.

Hope It Helps

Edited on Wed Jan-21-04 01:45 AM by jayfish
from my experience the calls are usually 3:1 in favor of conservative ideology. On A side note, that speech is almost exactly what I hoped to see... a dud. Just like his daddy's last SOTU address. W's entire Residency is bearing out the old adage "like father like son."

G'night

Jay

36. I'm not giving up, but to me the problems are bigger than 2004
Granted, Bush is bad, very bad. And that state of the union speech was despicable. But to me it represents merely the culmination of a long, long history of increasing problems. And every year it feels all we do at best is slow the rate of our velocity toward a big cliff.

Why do I want Bush gone in 2004? Well in short, because I believe he is running, deliberately, full speed toward a cliff. But what do I think about a democratic president to replace Bush? Well I imagine he'll only be walking toward the cliff. Given the choice between someone walking toward a cliff or someone running toward a cliff, I want the guy walking toward it.

But let's not kid ourselves, no one we've seen in two party politics for a long long time is walking away from it, and the system essentially guarantees that no one outside of two party politics is viable.

I'm not giving up... but its a war of attrition.

I shed tears, first of rage and then real pain. I am stunned that my country has come to this. That thieves, adulterers, and murderers were applauding that murdering scum.

Hope you feel better soon.

We have work to do :)
