Cheney and Scalia are duck hunting together
Just as the US Supreme Court agreed to hear Cheneys appeal on his energy panel documents, Scalia goes on a duck hunting vacation with him.

Scalia said in the wire reports in todays St. Pete times, "I don't think my impartiality can reasonably be questioned".

Isn't this the same Antonin Scalia who didn't recuse himself from the Florida 2000 election fiasco, even though his own son was arguing the Bush case in front of him? Not to mention a certain Clarence Thomas, who's wife was working for the Bush transition team.

These right-wing extremists are so corrupt, that they wouldn't know "an appearance of impropriety" if it jumped up and bit them on the whatever.

It's time to impeach these bastards. :spank:

:kick:

1. But they've brought integrity and family values back to the WH.
:puke:

I can't decide whether they really don't "get" what integrity, morality, etc. mean, or whether they are well aware of how corrupt they are but think they can get away with it because the average voter doesn't care.

4. Scalia enjoys the power
Scalia is making the most of his lifetime appointment isn't he.
These actions are taking the "integrity" of the entire Supreme Court down to such low levels.

Someone should have a heart-to-heart talk with him. Well I guess you need two hearts for that kind of discussion.

6. this has to have legs --- there will have to be an ethics hearing or
Scalia must recuse himself.

13. It would only have legs, if elected Democrats had spine - and they don't.
You might as well forget that - they've proved for the last three years that they don't care about voters or America, as much as they care about being "nice" to right wingers.

7. is it wrong of me to wish for an accident?
I recall Bill Maher talking about Cheney and his hunting... Cheney doesn't go out and really "hunt" per se... people release the ducks or whatever just in line so he can shoot them. It's a slaughter. Hunting for sport is evil, IMO... but Cheney's mass killings are the true sign of a sociopathic psycho.

But then again... corporate elites are often sociopaths. They have to be.

And this is what America gets for having a socioeconomic and political system that cater to the most ruthless, greedy, and power hungry psychos. No wonder they are often our leaders.

9. My goodness. I'm losing count of all the scandals and
conflicts of interest.

I think these guys are finally sinking. They're being forced into a defensive fight.

10. I thought this was going to be a joke
They go on a vaction together after Scalia has just agreed to hear Cheney's appeal of such importance and magnitude? How can this not possibly smack of impropriety??

Unbelievable.

11. The rare duck they hunt is called...
"constitutional democracy" and they're shooting the hell out of it those fucking scumbags.

It seems like a short while ago, the duck was hunting the hunters... what happened?

12. Aw, darn, from the title, I thought it was going to be a joke
Like:

Cheney and Scalia went duck hunting together. After several hours, they still hadn't bagged anything. Finally, Scalia says, "I don't get it. What are we doing wrong?" Cheney says, "I keep telling you: I don't think we're throwing the dog high enough!"

Or:

Cheney and Scalia went duck hunting one day. Scalia is inundated with stories from Cheney about his "great" duck hunting abilities.

After a few hours Scalia has bagged a couple of ducks, but Cheney hasn't taken a shot. Scalia question him on this, and Cheney he agrees to show his shooting abilities at the next opportunity.

A few moments later, one lone duck comes flying by. As promised, Cheney stands up and squeezes off one shot. The duck keeps flying.

"Antonin, you have just witnessed a miracle," says Cheney pointing at the receding duck, "for there flies a dead duck."

Or:

Cheney and Scalia went duck hunting in rural Oklahoma. Scalia shot and dropped a bird, but it fell into a farmer's field on the other side of a fence.

As Scalia climbed over the fence, an elderly farmer drove up on his tractor and asked him what he was doing.

Scalia responded, "I shot a duck and it fell in this field, and now I'm going to retrieve it."

The old farmer replied, "This is my property, and you are not coming over here."

The indignant Scalia said, "I'm a Supreme Court Justice and, if you don't let me get that duck, I'll sue you and take everything you own."

The old farmer smiled and said, "Apparently, you don't know how we settle disputes in these parts of Oklahoma. We settle small disagreements like this with the Okie Three Kick Rule."

Scalia asked, "What's that?"

The farmer replied, "Well, because the dispute occurs on my land, first I kick you three times and then you kick me three times and so on back and forth until someone gives up."

Scalia quickly thought about the proposed contest and decided that he could easily take the old codger. He agreed to abide by the local custom.

The old farmer slowly climbed down from the tractor and walked up to Scalia. His first kick planted the toe of his heavy steel-toed work boot into Justice's groin and dropped him to his knees. His second kick to the midriff sent Scalia's last meal gushing from his mouth.

The Justice was on all fours when the farmer's third kick to his rear end sent him face-first into a fresh cow pie.

Scalia summoned every bit of his will and managed to get to his feet. Wiping his face with the arm of his jacket, he said, "Okay, you old coot. Now it's my turn."

The old farmer smiled and said, "Naw, I give up. You can have the duck."

14. I love that last joke! Also, Yahoo reports that several govt. watchdog
groups are raising questions about this. We'll see how far it goes.

15. I read that too.
They're probably doing some preliminary planning for SCOTUS to call the election in favor of bushie in case it is close. They're figuring they need to be a little more subtle than the last time.
