Anyone ever read the booc called, Fraud by Waldman?
I am reading a book called Fraud: The Strategy Behind the Bush Lies and Why the Media Didn't Tell you.

It's written by Paul Waldman who is brilliant and a terrific writer. I just happened to be in the Barnes and Noble Bookstore the other day and saw it sitting on one of the tables. It's a new book. Waldman holds a Ph.D from the Unniveristy of Pennsylvania and his writing have appeared in the Washington Post and Newsday......

I have never heard of Waldman before. Never seen him on any of the Cable shows. There is good reason for that....he is liberal and backs his point up with facts so why would the corporate media put him on TV, right?

Basically the theme of the book is one we have been preaching for a long time here at DU. That is, Bush lies time and time again and the media gives him a pass on it. He starts with the 2000 Election comparing Gore's statements that were twisted and turned around by the media to make it a lie and Bush who flat out lied (i.e., Bush saying during the election that he pushed for a Patients Bill of Rights in Texas) and the media gave him a pass. And then he starts in with Bush policies as President compared to what he says in public during photo oportunities. He also gives a good history of Bush crimes while at Harkin and how his father stopped the SEC from investigating him....whereas the tax payers spent 70 million dollars investigating Clinton and a 30 year old land deal.

Waldman says that if the media did its job during the 2000 Election and asked Bush the tough questions, we would not be in the mess we are in today. He also copmpares the media coverage of Clinton's military history to Bush's....what a joke!

There is much more to the book. I am 2/3 of the way through it. It feels good knowing that there are other people out there who know the truth about Bush and are not afarid to speak out about it.

I highly reccomend this book.

Thanks

Dennis

1. Almost finished...
And I want everyone to read it. The man pulls no punches and lays bare the man and his packaging that was used to deceive those that voted for him.

others in the mdia...espcecially on Cable TV would speak the truth....if so, Bush would be held accountable for his statements and actions!

3. Great book!
I read it a couple of weeks ago, couldn't put it down. I 've also read the books by Franken, Moore and Conason and think that Waldman's is the best of the bunch. I don't know why it hasn't been promoted on the liberal websites the way the others have.
What Waldman really gets across that the others don't quite is the blatant and bald-faced hypocricy of the Bushit.

4. Yep....
like the previous poster said...he pulls no punches, brings on the facts to back his statements up, and sure knows his stuff. I hope that somehow Waldman could get on Cable TV....like MSNBC or CNN...probably not though :-)

5. Okay, I just finnished reading the book....
Waldman is a god! Liberal websites have got to promote this book more. This is better than Alterman or Franken's books. Seriously. Waldman hits all the points and backs up with the undisputable facts. It is a books that will motivate you and as much as I follow politics these days, I learned alot of new things from Wldman.

This is a MUST READ!
