Finally!Daschle's "Strategy Revealed!" Save Us! Save Us! Oh Democrats !
Edited on Tue Jul-08-03 07:02 PM by KoKo01
Save us from those Lying, Thieving Repugs, and that AWFUL Bush and Cheney Who Lead Us Into that WAR...and Trashed our IRA's and Social Security, and drove our States to Financial Disaster, and Threw Our Children Out of Day Care, Head Start, Kindergarten and Public Education!

Save us Tom and your fellow Congresspersons! Save us Democrats! We were BLIND BUT NOW WE SEE!

We don't have Jobs.....Our Health Care Stinks......And We Know That You Democrats are Our Only Hope!

Please......Please.....Please......Democrats.....Forget what we said about you......the names we called you
And all the REST OF IT!

We Love You.........We Long FOR YOU..........COME BACK.......WE NEED YOU TO SAVE AMERICA........and while
your'e at it.........we EVEN LOVE all those PEACE PROTESTORS!!!

WE FORGIVE CLINTON.........WE DO! JUST GIVE US BACK OUR DEMOCRACY.

(I know.....it's a vicious rant......but I unfortunately tried to watch the Cable/Network coverage of the Iraq Invasion Lies and I just went over the top here! I shouldn't have turned it on!!!!! It set me off........

Daschle's very weak call for more investigations when all this is just coming forward into the press....reminded me of what we all thought in the early DU days......was "Daschle's Quiet Calm Strategy" to bring the Dems back into power. I was thinking that he's waited too long....:-(

ABC Network/Jennings was Superb........but all the rest.........left me what you see above.

And, forgive my cynacism over Daschle and Dem Leadership. Those of us who've been through the "Selection/ 9/11 /Mid-terms and the rest of this Nightmare".......will understand where I'm coming from.......THE STRATEGY! and Daschle's statement today!

Oh.......how I want to be proud of our Democratic Leadership again.......and how far they sink.

Not a mention of Proud Robert Byrd and "Who told us so" on these networks or by anyone who are our supposed leaders...........UGH! :nuke:

7. buddahmamma, here it is...........puny and pitiful as it is :
(BTW Gloria Borger with Brian Williams went out of her way to mention Democrats every other word and alluded to the fact that they were fairly "silent" on the issue) ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WASHINGTON - Democrats pressed for deeper investigation of pre-war
U.S. intelligence efforts Tuesday after the White House admitted President
Bush (news - web sites) had erred in his State of the Union speech when he
said Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) had tried to buy uranium in Africa.

As weeks have passed with the American
search turning up no weapons of mass
destruction in Iraq (news - web sites), criticism
has been building concerning assertions the
administration made as justification for the war.

"This is a very important admission," said
Senate Democratic Leader Tom Daschle of
South Dakota. "It's a recognition that we were
provided faulty information. And I think it's all
the more reason why a full investigation of all of
the facts surrounding this situation be
undertaken."

4. Glad you didn't see carl levin
We might have had to put you up for a few days in a padded room.

You see, the problem is with the CIA....they knew this Niger doc was suspect but kept that information in the "bowels of the CIA for over a year".

Got room in that padded cell for two??????????????
AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

10. Was he "ever so meek and humble"
Did he make sure everyone knew that if the investigation was too inconvenient he could wait until after the elections.

Did he say if Smirk objected he would withdraw his suggestion?

puhleeze.

12. Jacobin......you are correct. I love Carl Levin.....if he has let us down
then it's the padded cell or WTF.........I don't know what's left........just more determination......but Geeze don't they get it YET!!!!!!!!!!!

The top two Democratic contenders were against the war and one of them said the Florida Selection was a fraud and Gore won! And these folks are saying "well we need an investigation." FGS! They already have an investigation! Two in fact! With the deck stacked against us!!

Maybe Daschle and Levin know when the WMD are scheduled to be planted and then unveiled somewhere in Iraq.......or they are "blackmailed!" When will someone in charge step up to the plate????????????

21. Some posters on other threads are suggesting that levin
"has an ace up his sleeve", or is "being coy", or "sly" and is "setting Smirk up for the investigation"......etc etc etc.

I wish, no I TRULY wish I could be so naive....it would feel soo much better to believe that.

Alas, I think its bogus and they are covering for Smirk's silly little ass.

25. Jacobin.....I still have hope for Levin....but not Daschle.....he's too
compliant. He should have been all over so much including the selection........I want him gone.

But, I know that Levin has tried. I watched the Senater hearings on the Iraq Invasion and Levin tried to put in amendments which would have curbed Bush's power. (maybe you saw the hearings, too, you've been around here)

So, I will have hope for Levin....

6. Bush's poll numbers are plummeting
Dems could turn that around by ranting incoherently. Luckily I don't expect them to do it.

8. Gloria Borgia said on MSNBC with Brian Williams: Bush a Popular 65% !
Now would anyone call her a liar??? I've been watching her for years on "PBS."

Would sweet Gloria lie........She said Blair has problems in Britain but Bush maintains a high 65% approval.

16. Cat, I know.....I haven't seen one poll with Bush at 65%!! Maybe Gloria's
children need to attend Harvard.......maybe she's putting on a big wedding....maybe she needs a new dress...I don't know. I'm so disappointed in her. How could she lie like that with a straight face. Even Brian Williams said the Pew polls were showing much more disapproval but she said it again......65%.

one of the many hos out there. Forgive me, anyone that likes her, but I don't see anything special about her. Is she on MSNBC now, that would make me think even less of her.
Is
I don't think that's going to change, though. MSNBC will be the among the last to jump off the sinking chimp.

22. Charlie Cook was on the middle may not want dump on Bush comments
today's email said:

The notion that former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean is just a quirky, fringe candidate has largely been dispelled by his recent fund-raising success and by his strong showings in Iowa and New Hampshire polls. Still, many seem to think that Dean's appeal and support is largely confined to the antiwar and leftist wing of the party. But, while there is no question that Dean's presidential candidacy draws considerable support from both of those constituencies, his campaign is also tapping into a strong vein of disillusionment with the current leadership and direction of the Democratic Party.

Many Democrats believe that their party not only caved on attacking Iraq, but that it also backed the concept of an economic stimulus package based entirely on tax cuts -- as opposed to public works spending. There is frustration that many Democratic legislators are supporting a prescription drug benefit that 69 percent of seniors -- in a recent Gallup poll -- said would not be of much help to them. And there is a sense that elected Democratic leaders have been cowed by President Bush since the tragedy of Sept. 11, 2001, and have confined themselves largely to half-measures and rhetorical distinctions. <snip>

The rub is that while a candidate like Dean can certainly score points by venting Democrats' frustration and contempt for Bush, these views bear little resemblance to those of the independent and other swing voters who, by and large, determine who wins and loses in general elections. In those same two June Ipsos/Cook surveys, 55 percent of all independent registered voters approved of Bush's overall performance, while 25 percent strongly approved. Thirty-seven percent disapproved, but only 17 percent strongly disapproved. On the economy and domestic issues, a somewhat stronger case can be made for more specific attacks. On the economy, 44 percent of independent voters approved and 12 percent strongly approved -- while 49 percent disapproved, and 29 percent strongly disapproved. On the handling of domestic issues, 48 percent approved and only 8 percent strongly approved; 45 percent disapproved, with 30 percent strongly disapproving. On foreign policy, however, independents are generally supportive of Bush. Sixty percent of independents approved of Bush's performance and 38 percent strongly approved -- while 35 percent disapprove, with 21 percent strongly disapproving.

In short, exhibiting personal contempt and voicing broadside condemnations of Bush can generate considerable short-term enthusiasm within the Democratic Party, but it can easily be counterproductive among independent voters. The data does indicate that Democrats are on considerably safer ground with targeted attacks on Bush on both the economy and on domestic issues, with less downside potential among independents and presumably other swing voters. <snip>

... There is a considerable body of evidence that voters see a more direct connection between government spending on streets, highways, bridges and school construction and the creation of jobs than the connection between tax cuts and job creation and economic stimulus.
The Democrats' argument could have gone something like this: "President Bush wants to blow the deficit sky high by giving tax cuts to his rich and powerful friends. If we are going to drive up the deficit, at least do it by repairing our streets, roads, schools and other public spending that we would eventually need to do anyway and would create more jobs." It's a virtual certainty that this argument would resonate better than the tax cuts did -- which received tepid support at best.

There is no opposition party, and my wishing for it won't make it happen.

Damn. There. I've said it out loud.

Now I feel worse....

When he explodes it's a big deal.

I'd rather he win his upcoming very close senate race. Let the pres. candidates go after Bush.
