Why Bush Is Doomed!
Quoting Abraham Lincoln:

"You may fool all the people some of the time; you can even fool some of the people all the time; but you can’t fool all of the people all the time."

5. I've always been pro-space, but I can't support this
I see it as just another dirty giveaway to the family and the co-conspirators and it makes me sick. Carlyle is in aerospace, no?

15. My thoughts too.
I'm suspicious of his motives, the militarization of space, giant contracts to more of his donors, and the tremendous cost of this. 1 TRILLION DOLLARS could be put to far better uses than the enrichment of his buddies, when is enough enough.

But Mr. Thurber on the subject cannot be ignored completely: "You can fool too many of the people too much of the time."

4. Why Bush Is Doomed
My medications just doubled in price, even on insurance. It took Haele 2 hours to get them filled, because the pharmacist was patiently explaining to everybody why the insurance companies were allowed to double their rates.

Especially Medicare. Even though the President said he was saving Medicare, etc.

Some seriously angry old folks down at the Rite-Aid. And old folks vote.

This is a pocketbook issue. The money people on TV can keep talking all they want about how the economy is "recovering", but folks on the street know we keep paying more and more, and jobs are getting harder and harder to find.

7. I agree he's finished.
Edited on Thu Jan-15-04 02:36 AM by Cat Atomic
Just weeks ago I would've said it was even money, but I think he shot himself in the foot with that amnesty thing. Then he shot himself in the other foot with the 1.8 billion dollar marriage thing.

Then he shot himself in the head with "we're goin' ta Mars!".

And that's not even considering the various investigations, accusations, and insinuations like those in the Susskind book.

The only way Bush can win at this point is to steal it.

9. Bush was never the true --
-- "winner" in 2000. A lot of folks think he cheated to win.

O'Neill's claim that the Iraq War was planned early on and recent admissions by W, Powell, Rice, et al aren't going to help either.

I'm just not sure you can survive electorally when you've alienated such a broad expanse of people and sometimes whole countries.

The economy is good for upper income people but still sucks in NE Ohio and Michigan, for instance.

Syrinx9999 is right -- the flag-wrappin' chimp is doomed.

11. Yeah, but we're talking about Americans.
If you told them Abraham Lincoln was running for office, they'd probably vote for him, then get pissed off when they found out their votes all went for Bush. Then they'd turn on TV and watch football.

17. syrinx, can I ask you a question?
I see your sig line has a quote from that song, "I Hate Republicans." I've been trying to find that on the internet, but I can't. If you have a link or something, can you please post it? I'd be very grateful. :)
Thanks

19. But what if people (i.e. Republicans) refuse to believe they were
wrong the first time, thus, refuse to admit they made a mistake?

20. Unfortunately,
Bush has already proved that you only have to fool 48% of the people and 55% of the Supreme Court.
