They lost two more MP's this week, at least one more to follow, and now possible candidates are dropping like flies. Life is sweet.
Lack of money may reduce Conservative leadership contest further
http://www.cbc.ca/stories/2004/01/14/strahl040114On Monday, Chuck Strahl MP said he was going to enter the leadership race, but by Wednesday he was saying he's discouraged, that he feels the rules are too stacked in favour of those with deep pockets.
He told CBC News that he is "leaning to no. That's a fact. I'm discouraged, and that's the way it's evolving."
"The cards are stacked and I can't get into the game. In that racket you've got to have a level playing field, and you've got to feel ideas and vision are as important as organization and deep pockets."
Strahl feels Stephen Harper had an unfair head start. Harper is, so far, the only declared candidate in the race. Strahl says the rule released Wednesday saying candidates need a $100,000 down payment just to enter the race is prohibitive.

Millionaire auto-parts magnate Belinda Stronach has decided to run for the leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada, joining former Canadian Alliance leader Stephen Harper as the only declared candidates in the race.
They may well get creamed at the election. HA!
