Gray Davis
Please, anyone! What in heavens name is going on in California??
I'm a little behind the news on this one and can't seem to get an accurate answer from anyone. What has he done so BAD to be on the verge of being ousted? Is this another repuke stunt?

Really though. What horrid things has he done that ANY repuke can fix??

1. The repuke could
tell the truth that its not gray's fault but enron's and the "beloved president's" fault not Davis and demand that Bush give federal aid or something like that. I was reading in the paper today about Arnold considering governor and how this girl 17 year old wants something "she hates Davis and wants Arnold but she cant vote" well if this girl had a brain she would know that a democrat like Davis is better than Arnold and yes I liked him in Terminator but I dont want him running my statehouse not my statehouse exactly being a Virginian.

2. Republicans in CA
To be quite general, while some of what happened was his fault, not nearly all of it was his fault.

I'd really like to see what any Republican, especially Arnold S., will do to fix things. Have any of them put forth plans to get things back in order in CA? In all of the coverage I've seen, I haven't heard of any plans.

4. Davis got duped by Enron-
Enron and Ken Lay played Davis like a violin. He got so scared that there was actually an energy "shortage" that he bought long term contracts at incredibly high prices.

I saw this coming a mile away. Many talk shows, editorials and commentaries from this time period broadcasted this blunder well before it happened. It was as if anyone who was paying attention was screaming "NOOOOO!!!! Don't do it you FOOL!" as beffuddled Davis signed these stupid contracts, oblivious to the uproar of more intelligent voices.

So, I guess you could say he got taken in a con when he was playing with other people's money. It's one thing if he's a fool with his own money, another if he sqaunders the people's.

I for one will not be sorry to see him go- my allegiance is to smarter people, not just any democrat.

9. Duping didn't start with Enron
but with the earlier duping of the Assembly by the energy industry in general. see www.gregpalast.com for the whole ugly story.

I won't mourn Davis, because any Democrat that becomes a corporate patsy deserves to go down in flames. Plus Arnold will make a fool of himself.

5. It depends upon your point of view,I guess
Davis is more than a bit short on the definitive action side, imo. Even though we were all swindled by Bush and Cheneys buddies in the energy trading business Davis refused to abandon the spot market for long term contracts despite the pleas of PGE to do so, thus he shares in the blame to some extent.

Davis is not my favorite politician but this recall is simply a ploy by the right wing republicans to void a legitimate election(now where have we seen this tactic before ..........

10. well ,if you live in California
and the democrats run Davis again just vote for him again! Last time I voted for Camejo, knowing that Davis was an automatic winner, this time Ill vote for the man even though I dont like him or respect the job he's done because defeating thjis republican circumvention of the election process is more important than any other issue in this race.

...gee, thats a lot like the 'vote for any democrat over Bush' crowd
