The fourth thing Bush has going against him right now.
This skipped my mind on the last post.

4. Paul O'Neil outing Bush. This only widens the credibility gap. I don't know if it will make people less inclined to believe in this extremely stupid war but I hope so.

2. Well, that's only IF O'Neil actually says
...what the 60 Minutes pre-broadcast buzz-building publicity claims he's going to say. I'm guessing it will be something much more modulated or attenuated than what I've been reading. Not but what I'm hoping for the bombshell the advance publicity is implying.

3. Don't forget "the fifth thing"...
...Karl Rove.

No longer a "shadow warrior" and purveryor of clandestine "by any means necessary" attacks, Rove is the subject of two high-profile, leave-no-stone-unturned books. He also appears prominently in the rest of the Bush books that came out this year, such as "Bushwhacked," "Lies of George W. Bush," and "Fraud."

He had a nice little situation going for him when he was primarily known by politicos and media insiders, but things have changed. Every reporter in print and on screen who is NOT on the GOP payroll is taking careful note of Bush's policy and spin tactics and responding with an ever-increasing refrain of "that came from Karl Rove."

He has a limited bag of dirty tricks, he has established a well-deserved reputation, he has a pathetically easy to spot M.O., and "spin" will be synonymous with "Bush" as long as he's on the payroll. Check out this Reuters story that surfaced on Yahoo today for proof:

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=584&e=3&u=/nm/20040110/pl_nm/economy_bush_dc

"In a rare reference to stocks, he said: "Stock market wealth has increased by more than $3 trillion over the past year."

Bush also sought to put the best possible spin on the job market. In December, the unemployment rate fell to 5.7 percent, down from 5.9 percent in November.

The decline was mainly because 309,000 people dropped out of the work force."

It doesn't seem like the reporter on this story (Adam Entous) is buying it...dontcha think?

7. AND
His joyful glibness that the nation was in crisis.

"I hit a trifecta".

Now he feels he can do whatever he wants. Of course he felt that way in the first place.

6. Not news
Paul O'Neil saying this is surprising. He likely knows what a pit-bull KKKarl Rove is and what he will do to O'Neil (ala Joseph Wilson/Valerie Plame).

What is NOT new is that the Bush administration has wanted to invade Iraq from day one. Big Dick Cheney was out pimping an Iraq invasion WELL before 9/11. It was clear and obvious that they ALWAYS wanted to invade Iraq. And of course there is the famous "He tried to kill my daddy" statement by frat boy Bush.

The story here is that they had concrete invasion plans as early as March 2001. The REAL story is that they didn't bother doing and RECONSTRUCTION plans beyond dividing up Iraq's oil resources. Of course, it than really puts BIG DICK's "energy task force" meetings in light since a lot of those people they listed as potential suitors for Iraq's oil were the same people meeting with BIG DICK.

Hopefully Scalia (like other conservatives) will start coming to grip that he has placed an mad-man on the thrown. When the "Energy Task Force" case finally comes to the high court, Scalia won't be motivated to out these meetings and let the contents meet for themselves.
