David Corn:Feinstein Takes A Dive For Rice
too long to post, just put in the first and last paragraph)

Here's one good reason why grassroots Democrats get fed up with their supposed leaders in Washington: Senator Diane Feinstein.
All Democrats expect George W. Bush to ignore the WMD scandal and refuse to acknowledge that he misled the nation and the world regarding those (nonexistent) WMDs in Iraq. They expect his aides to do the same. They expect the rightwing media to protect Bush and peddle whatever spin they can so Bush and they face no consequences for their false prewar assertions.

Feinstein calls Rice a friend. And it sure is swell to do a favor for a friend. But Feinstein's fawning introduction of Rice was an insult to anyone who believes the administration presented a fake case for war--and that happens to be most Democrats. To assist a pal, Feinstein practically endorsed the Bush administration's dissembling and disingenuous explanations for the invasion. After all, she was endorsing one of the chief dissemblers and ignoring Rice's crucial role in the caper. With these far-too-kind words for her buddy, Feinstein has aided and abetted the administration's ongoing effort to deny there is such a thing as a WMD scandal.

4. She is an example of unlimited momentum...
she was good when she was fresh - at the beginning of her career - she morphed - her ability to hang on is because, perhaps, that too many of her supporters haven't figured out that she morphed to the right. The only way she can come out of this debacle is to vote against Rice with a good explanation.

6. There was a time
when I felt that if I were on the last short leg of my journey through this life and were given a choice of wish fulfillment in my final days, on the short list of those wishes would be to meet Ms. Feinstein in person. To say that I am profoundly disappointed in her is such an understatement...

8. When does Feinstein come up for re-election again?
If she gets worse, it's time we try to get the ball rolling on finding someone to run against her.

9. Al Gore said last summer that George Tenet was a personal friend
but he said that it was time for George to go. He wasn't afraid to see the difference between friendship and being the wrong person for the job at that time.

12. Good for Corn!!
Senator Feinstein ought to be ashamed of herself for her performance today.

Senator Boxer, for the second time in as many weeks, has done herself proud.
