3. What part of the argument do you agree with?
That the U.S. is acting as a hegemon or that U.S. hegemony is necessary for "world security"?

5. I agree..
with both parts. The U.S. obviously acts as a hegemon given its economic power and attitude while also is essential for world security. The country with the bombs owns all...simple as that. Regardless of how smart we liberals think we should be, it all comes down to such a dumb Republicanesque fact as to who has the largest arsenal.

6. OK, but it's a bit more complex than that
One, military power in an age of nuclear weapons is not the same as it used to be. The U.S. has little military power that it could exercise directly against other nations with nuclear capabilities (China, France, Russia, etc.).

Second, in economic power terms the U.S. is no longer a hegemon in a meaningful sense. Two rival power centers, the E.U. and East Asian region (particularly Japan, China, South Korea) are at least the match of the U.S.

Third, the thesis that the U.S. is necessary for "world security" however defined is about to be tested, as it seems we are moving toward a multipolar world.

and that's good? ok, but no more of this 'christian' crap, or 'fambly values' or 'freedon and democracy fer all' shit...In fact, it's all about filling gluttonous guts with crap that becomes waste that's dumped in nearest body of water (away from the homes of the gluttons) while being entertained to death, then spending eternity boring the jeezus outta god.
thank god for global warming!
