Some nit-picking Democrats are complaining that the president needs to come clean; that there should be an independent commission to investigate this whole thing. Nonsense! Do we want our Commander-in-Chief and his staff badgered for the rest of this term and through the 2004 election campaign by a bunch of Congressional investigators and would-be chief executives? Not me. I think the president's attitude is salutary, and suggest that we all ought to adopt his stalwart approach to life's little annoyances.

Think about it.

If you cheated on your spouse and now she or he is nagging you about it, tell her or him to stop complaining. You've "moved on." The issue is closed.

(more... much much more...)

3. Poppy did pretty much the same thing
When asked about the nastiness of the Willie Horton campaign strategy, after he'd won the election, his comment was, "That's history."

4. The buck does not stop at George Tenet
I just finished a short LTTE:

CIA Director George Tenet may have taken responsibility for failing to have the bogus claim about Niger uranium stricken from the president’s State of the Union speech, but who is going to take responsibility for inserting it in the first place? The Bush administration had known for nearly a year the claim was based on forged documents, so they carefully worded the speech to attribute the report to the British. This had the virtue of making the statement technically correct, while conveying a lie to the American people. The buck does not stop at George Tenet.
