Edited on Sat Oct-30-04 08:44 AM by Tesibria
It's a good start to the weekend. The following endorsements were reported today (some endorsements occurred earlier in week, but were not, as far as I know, noted here)

  • CONNECTICUT: Yale Daily News - Our pick: John Kerry 66 for U.S. president.
  • FLORIDA: Fort Pierce Tribune - Bush’s Economic Policies Fail.
  • INDIANA: Lafayette Journal-Courier - Not Bush, Kerry.
  • MAINE: Brunswick Times Record - John Kerry for president.
  • MINNESOTA: St. Cloud Times - Bush has lost our trust; vote Kerry for president.
  • NEW JERSEY: Vineland Daily Journal - We endorse John Kerry for president.
  • NEW JERSEY: Jersey Journal (Jersey City) - Vote for Kerry for president; a fresh start is needed.
  • NEW YORK: East Hampton Star (Jersey City) - Editorial: Top of the Ticket.
  • VERMONT: Bennington Banner - Elect Sen. Kerry for president.
  • WEST VIRGINIA: Huntington Herald Dispatch - Kerry has a better chance of uniting the country.
  • WISCONSIN: Green Bay News-Chronicle - Endorsements: Kerry, because he isnt Bush.

    1. Two more Michigan papers endorse Kerry (one switch)
  • MICHIGAN: Ironwood Daily Globe - Endorsed Kerry, according to the Detroit Free Press.
  • MICHIGAN: Petoskey News-Review - Note: The Petoskey News-Review endorsed Bush in 2000, according to its endorsement of Kerry this year. John Kerry will bring understanding and energy to the presidency.

    2. Tepid Kerry endorsement in my local paper, the Herald Dispatch...
...whose editorial board did drink some of that poisonous Kool Aid. Not a very well-written editorial, either-doesn't discuss in depth the issues they mention and many others at play in this election.

    4. OHIO: Suburban News Publications (22 papers) for Kerry
  • OHIO: Suburban News Publications - John Kerry for President. Archived Endorsement. Note: Per the Subburban News Publications, it "has never made a Presidential endorsement. Our 22 community newspapers do not regularly cover national politics, and we have always considered it more important to offer readers our opinions on Central Ohio candidates and issues. This year is different. The stakes in next week's Presidential election are so high, and the contrast between the candidates is so stark, that we cannot in good conscience keep silent. SNP strongly endorses Sen. John Kerry for President and urges voters to support him on Nov. 2."

    24. Ann Arbor News Half-Ass Bush Endorsement
    http://www.mlive.com/columns/aanews/index.ssf?/base/new...

What a piece of crap. Their only Kerry criticisms are RW bullshit talking points, and they admit that Bush is failing. Their title looks like they aren't going to endorse anyone, and then at the end they endorse Dubya as the lesser of two evils. This paper is sooo out of touch with the town (although Ann Arbor is not as liberal as it's reputation). ANN ARBOR NEWS SUCKS!

Country deserves better candidates for president

    excerpt:
Our concentration on national security does not reflect a belief that domestic issues are inconsequential. However, domestic challenges are less significant than beheadings, suicide bombers and terrorist cells almost certainly planning more gruesome attacks against our country and its citizens.

George W. Bush is the better of the two candidates to defend this country.

And, we hope for better choices from both parties in four years.

    25. My hometown paper, The State (Cola, SC) very weakly to Bush column
I'm the idiot running around to other state fora asking people to write letters to the editor protesting Bush endorsements, but this is so tepid as to be a Kerry endorsement in all but name. I think the cowards are just ducking subscription cancellations from Lexington County:

Resolve on war makes flawed Bush our reluctant choice

PRESIDENT BUSH has disappointed us in many ways.

He promised to be a uniter, not a divider. Yet faced with our nation’s second Pearl Harbor — a tremendous opportunity to set aside differences and pull the country together — he continued to pursue an ideological domestic agenda, from attacking affirmative action to dismantling environmental protections. And his policies have been not only divisive, but often destructive. Consider:

    • Rather than asking us to sacrifice in a time of war, he has doled out tax cut after tax cut, and taken us from a nearly balanced budget to staggering deficits.

    • Rather than cutting spending while cutting taxes, he has presided over the largest increase in the federal government since Lyndon Johnson — increasing federal spending on education (a state function) by 65 percent, and creating a whole new Medicare entitlement.

    (uh, etc.)
