On Tuesday night, Dick Cheney made several statements that were patently untrue. This is typical behavior of this administration and we, the American people, deserve the truth.
In attack-mode all night, Cheney made reference to Senator Edwards' attendance record, stating that Edwards "has one of the worst attendance records in the United States Senate". This, in fact, is a lie. Over the course of Senator Edwards' career, he has voted on over 84% of the measures presented, logging over 99% voting attendance in 3 of his 6 years as Senator. Dick Cheney, on the other hand, has been in only 2 of 126 Tuesday sessions of the Senate or less than 1% of the time while stating, “I’m up in the Senate most Tuesdays when they are in session.”
Cheney also stated that this Tuesday’s debate was, “the first time I ever met (Edwards).” This is also a lie. Several photographs have been uncovered that show Cheney and Edwards in the same image, including one where they are seated next to one another!
If Bush and Cheney are re-elected in November, expect more of the same. America deserves better. America deserves the truth. Elect Kerry and Edwards as our new leadership.
