The Trickle-Down Vote.
The Trickle-Down Vote.
Why George W. Bush is only the head of the snake.
Posted on October 6, 2004.

This year's election is undoubtedly the most important election of our lifetime. The decision we make on November 2nd will affect us now and in the future. Fortunately, the American public has realized the problems we face with the Bush administration and they have begun to take action. Recent reports suggest that voter registration is up at an all time high. Place such as Texas, Mississippi, Alaska, and even Cincinnati are reporting an expected record voter turnout. You see, the larger the voter turnout, the greater chance the Democrat wins. Or as I hear it, people don't register to vote the incumbent IN, they register to vote the incumbent OUT.

This brings me to the Trickle-Down vote. Just voting George W. Bush out of office on November 2nd is not enough, but it's a start. His administration has negatively infected our entire nation. Right down to our local districts. If we make the right choice for president this year and fail on our local and state elections, things will take longer to get better. Right now, the Republican's control the White House, the United States House and Senate, and the Supreme Court. They have the power to introduce and pass laws of their choosing. Making it a luxury for them and harder on us.

That's why I'm voting a straight Democrat ticket this year. Even down to my local Sheriff. I want those responsible to realize the American public has had enough with their lies and corporate greed. Even our local Republican lawmakers work hand-in-hand with the Bush administration. They are the ones responsible for allowing Halliburton to charge us taxpayers $87 dollars for a sheet of plywood to rebuild Iraq. Just image what that same amount of money would do in your local community. Your city could fix that pothole you drive over every day, saving you car repair in the future. How about property taxes? I would love to see a discount on my property tax.

But no, they "stay on message." They say Bush's tax cuts are creating jobs and he is the only one they trust to fight the war on terror. Do you feel it? I don't. Where exactly are the jobs? How come George W. Bush has not created one single net job since he was sworn in? Why did he give a tax cut in a time of war? Why are the rich benefiting the most from the tax cut instead of us who are less fortunate? So what, right? He's tough on terror. Wrong. Let me ask you this. Do you feel safer now that Saddam is in jail and Osama is not? I didn't think so either.

Now is our chance. Come November 3rd, we can elect a new president. But that won't be enough. If John Kerry doesn't have the support in the House and Senate, things will take longer to repair. The Republican's will be more worried about his sex life than the real issues we face today. We can't allow this to happen.

So, we have to make the Republicans pay for what they've done to our great country. The economy is bad, the deficit is growing at a record pace, the environment is getting worse, our foreign relations are strained, and our 401K's are still 101K's. Yet they want to "stay the course." Like Randi Rhodes told Ralph Nader in an interview, "We just can't afford you this year." And she's right. At any other time, I would have no problem with thoroughly reviewing all the candidates and their policies. Heck, I've even been known to vote for Independents, but not now. I can't afford another four years of the same thing. Our seniors are paying record prices for health care, our kids will be paying for the record deficit, and China is buying all of our debt. And I haven't even mentioned the quagmire in Iraq.

That's why we have to make our statement this year. On one day, a few minutes to vote, a lifetime of change. I can't imagine what the feeling will be like when we hear John Kerry has won the presidency and the Democrats have took back the United States House and Senate, State Congress, City Council, and so on. Oh how sweet that would be.

1. Ok, I appreciate the idea of voting a straight ticket...
But what if you've got someone on the Dem ticket somewhere who is a DINO? Should we still vote for them? I don't think so.

For instance, were Zell Miller to be up for an election, as a Democrat, would you advocate someone voting for a straight ticket if Miller would also get the vote?

I intend to vote straight ticket, EXCEPT for one Dem who appears, from everything I've heard about him, to be a DINO.
