NYT: MODO Tells it like it is.
It's a remarkable feat, but teeter-tottering John Kerry is even managing to land on both sides of the ambition issue. He let the Bush crowd and Swift Boat character assassins stomp all over him and, for the longest time, didn't fight back. He stumbled into every trap Bush Inc. set for him.

Love her or hate her she is right on the money this time.

1. What?
What the hell was that? Do you find it impressive? I don't. Another shallow piece of garbage from the most overrated columnist in the world.

4. Don't mind these folks, dand. You're right and so is MoDo unfortunately.
It's just that DUers think this board is all about rah-rah, feel good, boosterism and anything that confounds their mindset that the Kerry campaign is sailing blissfully along creates the kind of dissonance that causes them to have to actually think, and there's the rub.

6. It's not just Maureen Dowd
I have to agree with her assessment, especially after also reading in the Times about the battle for Kerry's brain. I'm 100% anti-bush, 75% pro-Kerry (see my site at http://www.bigpath.net if you need proof), but what is going on? Some advisors want Kerry to go negative; some want him to stay positive; what about alienating swing voters?, and on and on and on. It's unbearable. What about letting Kerry be Kerry? The DNC has such a stranglehold on their candidates that there's no room for spontaneity.

Unless Kerry takes charge in the next week and shows that he's a fighter, countering every attack AND trying to stay focused on the issues, I'm very worried about the outcome of Nov. 2.
