GOP plays bait and switch in N.Y.
THE Republican Convention should be called "the bait-and-switch" gathering of Bushites. Let's be honest with the American people. Do the men who head up the speakers represent the mainstream views of the national GOP?
Of course not. John McCain, Rudy Giuliani and Arnold Schwarzennegger are being presented to the American people on prime time TV because they do not represent the views of men and women who wrote the campaign plank that governs the Republican Party.
It's the old game of bait and switch. We saw the same tactic four years ago when Bush campaigned as a "compassionate conservative" who would unite -- not divide -- the American people. And, remember, he was going to change the culture of Washington, D.C. politics.
The most incredible news release came from the British Broadcasting Corp. describing the three main speakers as liberal. That's pushing it a little, but in a sense, when comparing the three speakers with most of the public officials in the Republican Party, they do come off as liberal.
