Arrested by Airport TSA for Reading the U.S. Constitution!
A California doctor (and retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel) was arrested yesterday in New Mexico by TSA and airport police for the crime of reading the 4th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution aloud as she passed through the TSA security checkpoint. She was otherwise totally complying with all TSA search requests and regulations.

It is bad enough that our Homeland Security Agency and their TSA has routinely ignored our Constitutional Bill of Rights, but it appears that they now consider it a potential terrorist weapon.

Read the doctor's story at: www.dailykos.com/story/2011/10/18/1027775/-TSA-Arrests-Me-for-Using-the-Fourth-Amendment-as-a-Weapon-(Tales-from-the-Edge-of-a-Revolution-2)?showAll=yes&via=blog_805357

1. They Were "Provoked", No Doubt
It's a sad country where Truth and Fact are considered "provoking".

3. K&R
I would prefer to comment, but my rage and disgust with TSA won't let the thoughts out coherently.

4. Since TSA is routinely stripping people of their 4th amendment rights, what
difference does it make if they also take away 1st amendment rights in the process? It's TSA's mandate to shit all over the Constitution.

9. If you haven't already read the whole thing, you should.
As you do, keep in mind whose point of view it is written in. Then, put yourself among the people at the airport and imagine this all happening.

13. Read it all. Put myself in their shoes.
All that did is make me want to quit my job with the TSA.

15. You should read it.
It doesn't say optional.

And you might as well get in their shoes. They've already gotten yours.

11. There is some good evidence that the constitution is now viewed as subversive by police
There are videos of law enforcement being instructed to see that possession of a copy of the constitution is to be seen as evidence of the holder being a threatening element.

Maybe I should turn them in to Homeland Security.

19. No...
...the person was arrested for making a scene.

I support them - but they were not arrested for read the 4th amendment. They could have been reading the TSA manual or Grapes of Wrath.

This person was planning on making a scene in a serious environment and got arrested.

Pays your money - you takes your chances.
