Same-Sex Rights Don't Depend on Nature vs. Nurture Debate

Putting aside the question of whether sexual orientation can be changed, the more basic question is whether it should. The question of nature vs. nurture seems to carry, just beneath the surface, an unspoken and disturbing assumption: Heterosexuality is fundamentally better than homosexuality. That's one hell of a huge assumption, and it's based on a moral code that long ago became obsolete.

2. Yeah, I've always hated the "we can't help it; its biological" argument.

Because next the haters will start to treat homosexuality like a genetic defect, and try to cure it.

The bottom line for me is that it doesn't really matter if it's nature, or nuture, or just plain a choice. In any case, being homosexual is a fine thing to be, and that's the approach I wish the LGBT advocates would take, rather than the current lame approach, which runs the danger of trying to convert fear of homosexuality into pity for homosexuals, which is just as bad.
