In order to make sports more family friendly, you can now go to prison for three months for posessing alcohol while travelling in a PRIVATE HIRE VEHICLE to a sports event.

So if you want to have a beer on a bus you paid for to take you to a football game, you're going to jail.

Unbelievable.

Edit: I think it only applies to Northern Ireland but still, i thought that was a reasonbly free society.

It's what you find in the dictionary next to the phrase "nanny state." You got to prison for three months for having beer before a football game. You're not allowed to own pointed kitchen knives. They just now made it legal to defend yourself using a bat or metal rod if someone is breaking into your home trying to rob, rape, or murder you. So long, at least, as you aren't "too aggressive" in defending yourself, in which case you'll be sent to prison, and the person who assaulted you can sue you and win. And you can't go out in public without those four million security cameras watching every move you make, which they're now trying to use to determine who is GOING to commit a crime before they do.

And for all that, their rate of petty crime and violent assault is still vastly higher than ours. Someone should tell them that V for Vendetta isn't instructional material.
