I still have a hard time that WI folks actually voted this creep in over Russ Feingold.
He really has done nothing in the Senate except complain and oppose nominations. see the entire article.

Sen. Johnson part of problem he bemoans

Wisconsin U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson recently said on the Senate floor: “I’ve been carefully watching Washington for more than 32 years while operating my manufacturing business in Oshkosh, Wis. — watching how increasingly broken Washington has become over the years.”

Washington is broken alright, and it’s people like Johnson who are swinging the wrecking ball. Case in point: confirmation of Victoria Nourse for the 7th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, which reviews federal cases from Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana.

Nourse is qualified for the job. She has been a professor at the University of Wisconsin Law School since 1993. Before that, she worked for the Senate Judiciary Committee and for the Senate committee that investigated the Iran-Contra affair.

Yet Johnson is conducting a one-man filibuster to block the nomination. Under the absurd rules that govern the Senate, Johnson is exercising his privilege to block a hearing on her nomination. It’s probable that a majority, perhaps a large majority, of senators would vote to confirm Nourse, but the rules permit Johnson to single- handedly send her nomination to purgatory.................

2. The folks in WI that actually voted for this creep are the ones who actually voted.
It is quite likely that there are many more thousands who actually preferred Feingold but they did not actually vote, and that made a big difference in the end.

3. That may be true or not. Have you ever seen any article with
stats to say Dems stayed home or left the top of the ticket blank (either for a dem senator or Pres). I have lots of anecdotal evidence and hear it lot-but really no hard core evidence.

regardless, I do know some who stayed home in 08.

5. Compare vote totals for Walker/Barrett last year with McCain/Obama in 2008.
Walker received 90% of the total votes that went to McCain in 2008 and that's a pretty damned good turnout for an off-year election. So obviously the Republicans were inspired to get out and vote.

On the other hand, Barrett only received about 60% of the total votes that went to Obama. If Barrett had received even 75% of the votes that went to Obama he would have beaten Walker. So for whatever reason it certainly appears that Democrats did not turn out to vote the same way Republicans did here last year.

Polls before the election certainly showed that both Barrett and Feingold were in trouble. I am sure there are a lot of Democrats now who wished they would have voted last November. I would also guess that there are more than a few Democrats who wished they would have voted in the Supreme Court election between Prosser and Kloppenburg as well.

6. Thank you. I had not looked at those numbers in the context of
of the 2010 vote. Very illustrative.

PS. I know several who wished they had voted (all Dems). On the other hand, I also know a lot who just have given up (and some are Dems). I canvass for one of the recall candidates quite a lot on weekends and get a lot of discussion. the disheartening ones are the ones who just say--what is the use ?--and shut the door or walk away. And this brings up another side issue---will Dems get out to vote in the recalls? Enough of them? I have run into (and other canvassers also say this) a lot of Dem folks who seem to be depressed or just plain of the attitude--SO WHAT--!! We did have a fair turnout in WI for Kloppnburg and it is encouraging to see western WI turning bluish or purplish.

7. Here in La Crosse they are working hard to get out the vote for Shilling.
It's expected that Kapanke will be defeated by 10 points, but that's not being taken for granted.

My 19 year old goddaughter is working to get out the vote in rural La Crosse and she just called me to ask how long the thunderstorm that is going on now will last. I told her it should be over in a half hour or so, but they are picking them up so most of the day will unfortunately be lost for getting people out to vote.

On Monday the early voting will begin and I will take my goddaughter and again we will vote early at the city clerk's office. Again I will tell them I'm not showing my ID either.

8. we did our door to door earlier today in Menonminee but still
the rain hit us. yes, it cut it short as the wind came up strong. I am actually not in Moore's district and drive over from a neighboring one. so I do not get to vote. drats.

I hope folks do not get to over confident knowing Kapenkee is lower in the polls. Gosh, this is nerve wreaking at times.

4. I really don't think Wisconsinites voted for him- Accenture did...
This man is not so much a jobs creator as an expert on how to use other peoples resources. His only customer, "while operating his manufacturing business" was his brother in law... The inlaws created a job for this man to keep him out of the family business.... Smart move on their part.... This one man show seems to be the way he operates.....
