Muslim lawmaker: Herman Cain is a "bigot"
http://www.salon.com/news/2012_elections/index.html?story=/politics/war_room/2011/07/20/keith_ellison_herman_cain_islam

Over the past few months, former Godfather's Pizza CEO Herman Cain has carved out a place as the most prominent anti-Muslim figure in the GOP presidential field, and, arguably, the country.

First, earlier this year, he promised he would not hire any Muslims to be in his future cabinet, subsequently repeating various versions of that pledge. Then, on a trip to Tennessee last week, Cain came out against the construction of a mosque project there. On Fox News Sunday, he expanded that stance, endorsing the idea that any American community could bar construction of mosques.

To get a response to Cain's new comments, I spoke to Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., who is one of two Muslim members of Congress and who has emerged in recent years as a loud anti-anti-Muslim voice.

"It seems like a week doesn't go by without Cain saying something incredibly offensive, so I can only guess that he's doing it on purpose," said Ellison. "He's probably figured out that he can get headlines if he says something really ugly, so he doesn't disappoint."

1. Aren't the vast majority of Republicans bigots? More people than Cain need to be singled out here.

2. Cain's going to be the candidate...
...He's being held back out of the limelight while Bachmann et al do the heavy lifting and take the heat. They saw how the black vote went in the last primaries, cutting HRC out of the picture and now they want to split the black vote, as well as trying to separate the black vote from the white liberal base (some who were deeply offended when Hillary got cut out). Cain/Bachmann ticket in 2012. Plan for it.

3. Herman Cain bigot
We can dismiss him a an a**hole, but his giving voice to these un-American ideas in a large public forum moves the center of mass of American principles. The same goes for Limpdick, Beck, Hanity and O'rally. He is like a guy pulling on a rope tied to a 10,000 pound cloth sack of shit. He can't actually move the sack, but he can distort it enough to shift the cernter of gravity of the mass of shit in his direction. They all do long term damage to our society.
